Root Rooted Desire with ext part - still low on space

Hi,
I know there has been written a lot about that topic but reading all of this got me even more confused...so I decided to try and post my problem (please be polite with me). ;)

I have rooted S-off HTC desire with 32GB memory card, part A2SD+ with 1,5 GB and using MIUI ROM (which I like very much). I only have about 40 installed apps but I'm getting message of low internal space all the time so I have to clear data or remove some app. On my A2SD+ there is still 1,42 GB available space and I really don't know what I'm doing wrong or missing...

I really love my phone and I just want to use it with many of apps (which now I can't).

Thanks in advance for anyone's help!

did you move your apps from the phone to the sd card using apps2sd or not? because you have to send the to the sd card yourself. your apps are installed on the internal storage of the phone and you have to manually move them to the sd card. ;)

If MIUI is still using DarkTremor for the a2sd you could try this. Open a terminal emulator and type:

su
a2sd cachesd

That moves the dalvik cache to sd. The phone will reboot after the second command, so don't worry. Linux commands are case sensitive, so type exactly as shown here.

I did move every apps that could be moved...others I couldn't...

HADRON: THANK YOU A LOT!!!! I did what you advised me to do and suddenly I have 97MB free space on my internal memory....that's just incredible!!! I hope everything will work now as it should and I won't get the "low memory" alarm any more.

Thank you again!
Have a nice day!

correct me if im wrong, but with A2SD+ (darktremor script) you shouldnt have to move apps to sd manually? they should be set to using 'internal' memory

That is correct - with the DT script working properly there is no need to move apps manually to sd (which means moving them off the ext partition).

Well, my happiness didn't last long...today my phone crashed and I can't even start it...when I put my battery off, green and orange light flash if I plug in recharge cable...nothing works...and I went to the service for HTC and they said it's probably motherboard failure and a replacement would cost 150

Although overheating due to a motherboard fault can cause that, it's not the only cause. Some people with that symptom have found that changing battery fixes it. Also check the battery contacts.

Hey guys,

After having a lot of troubles with my HTC (being slow and unresponsive mainly), plus skype refusing to work properly, I dared installing ICS. I used revolutionary and su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed and it worked then installed beta_0.13 and was stuck at the X graphic logo but then installed gapps-ics-20120317-signed and after a couple of minutes it was working! In this process I haven't created any partitions on my 8gb sdcard and whatever data l had it's still on it. The phone is responsive and skype is running as it should so I am very happy, but I do have this problem with the internal memory. Now I understand that partitioning the sd in a certain way it will allow the phone to see that partition as internal memory. I have no ideea how to do it. I tried the above method and I got this error:

Permission denied
255|app_31android:/ $ a2sd cachesd
This script must be run as root
Aborting
1|app_31android:/ $

Can you guys point me in the right direction, cheers

Chris

PS Internal Storage now shows 148MB total space / apps ocuppy 103MB / 18.61MB avail.
SDCARD shows 7.60GB / apps 888MB / pics 431MB / downloads 20MB / 2.88GB avail.

The a2sd command must be preceded by the su command to get root permission (it's in the post you quoted). But unless the card is partitioned it can't do anything.

See the root memory faq, linked in the All Things Root Guide sticky post, for more info on this.
