    Hi,

I have rooted my desire, but I am a total noob. I have no idea where to go from here, what to do, what to kill.
I am stuck on, seeing what ROM my desire is running ( my dad who rooted this phone must of put something on this....)
Where do I go from here?
What are apps I can get rid of to give myself more internal memory?
How do I get all my SMS to save to my SD card?
Generally how do I get more memory for my phone?
What are good upgrades to do?
What are things (data and caches from apps) that I can delete without ****ing up this phone? (other than things like internet, and other innocuous things)

I really have no idea what I'm doing. I have read the FAQ over and over, and the other FAQ over and over and I am still lost.

Please help me and make me feel bad for not being tech savvy

    I have
    Android version 2.3.3
    HTC sense version 2.1

I'm like all this :( and no this :)

Can you post exactly what it says in the About Phone section so we can see if you're running a custom ROM or not, then all you're other questions will be easy to answer. Also you need to boot into recovery and take a NAND backup before we start playing :D

I would start by reading about http://androidforums.com/faqs/443075-root-terminology.html as it will get you up to speed on the terminology used here.

Then take a look at Root Memory which will tell you about the processes used to gain more memory.

Having done that you will need to decide on which custom version of the operating system you want to use (pure stock htc will not get you more space) there is a list here HTC Desire (Bravo) Index - Everything Desire is here! [20th/August/2012] - xda-developers

Don't worry about removing apps from your phone right now. If you delete one from your system it only creates a space that you can't access (atleast not yet).

I hope this helps you get started.

    hi,
i went the way of flashing a smaller/custom hboot, and then flashing a non sense rom - dont like sense - straight GB ones are better imo :)

but im now considering partitioning my sd card using gparted - so i can flash ics rom

as said above - check out all the guides before doing stuff to your phone

    good luck

    cheers
    dan
