Root Rooted phone with Z4root

i don't exactly know but auto detect on set cpu won't let you pass 600 and i'm guessing for good reason.

cpu not that good in the ascend so anything faster than 600 will most likely willcause your phone to burn out/kill it...MY THOUGHT!!!!!!!

Has anyone had any luck rooting the ascend since the upgrade to 2.2? I've downloaded z4root and the program gets to a point where the message at the bottom says, "Acquiring root shell." ...and then it returns me to my home screen. Never reboots, never changes a thing. I'm still rooted. What gives?!

I'm on MetroPCS in Dallas, TX.
