Root Rooting effects of nexus s

    when you root your nexus s, do you lose ALL data? such as sms, all gallery photos, settings, apps, contacts, calls, etc. ?

    i moved you over to the nexus s forum.
    and yes when you root it will be like a factory reset. the only thing that will not be touched is your sd card. but you should back those up on your computer anyways. i'm not up to date as to how to root your nexus s, so hopefully folks here can help you out.

    Why should rooting be like a factory reset?

    Only if he flashes a new ROM, then it is. But for root access he doesn't have to lose everything.

    Backup doesn't hurt, though, and it never did :D
