is evidently IMPOSSIBLE!!! ive been trying to install the driver software for about 3 hours now and windows refuses to recognize the software. Whenever I click "update drivers" and browse to the USB Drivers folder I downloaded, it shows it being empty, although it's not. Very aggravating.... if anyone knows of a fix for this please let me know before i find bill gates and bag tag him with a hammer

Just browse to the Drivers folder, and just select it. No need to go into the subfolders. You wont be selecting a file, rather, you will be selecting the folder that contains the drivers.

Thats what I did. If that doesnt work,
32-bit: Deposit Files
64-bit: Deposit Files

Those are the drivers for the hero and they work I believe.

Download htc sync for the eris from htc website. Install and youre set. Those divers listed in the sdk never work for me.

Im on win7 64 bit and cant get past step 2. Everything downloads, says to click step 2, then i just get the occassional blue circle, like its trying to do something. USB driver updates states that they are already up to date, phone is in debug mode, phone is on, sd card is not mounted. not sure what to do now....

same here tells me to make sure I followed all steps. i finally got the drivers to install after 4 hours and now this... thinking about giving up.

I'm on Windows 7 64bit and I've been able to get everything working. Try actually running through the HTC Sync process (selecting HTC Sync on your phone) and pairing once to see if that helps get the drivers installed. You dont actually have to sync anything.
