Root Rooting Help.

Ok so I'm not new to modifying phones. I use to mod my sony ericsson phones and my palm pixi. But those where easy because there where plenty of updated videos and dedicated websites.

But I'm having an hard time finding out where to start. Can anyone tell me what to download and an up to date in depth step by step instuctions to rooting my device.

And After I do that can someone show me where to find up to date roms and ways to add live wallpapers and overall make it more of the nexus one instead of what samsung didn't add.

Extra information about my phone is im running the official 2.1 update 1 firmware. and the baseband version is DE03 if thats important. Can someone please help.

I'm far from an expert; it took me hours to do my phone the first time. The next day, though, I updated and rooted my wife's phone, took out the bloatware and added some goodies in about 15 minutes. The link to build your won custom update zip is awesome (it's in the post I linked first).
