    Hi Guys,

I was hoping someone may be able to help me with my problem. I've search around and not been able to find a resolution anywhere. Apologies if I missed it.

I've had the Gingerbread update but am looking to root and install custom roms for the first time.

In order to do this I understand that I need to downgrade first. This is where I have problems.

I have followed the tutorials and every time it seems to get stuck as follows.

If anyone has any advice on this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for that. Have actually tried both ways. Changed it to _S as someone else said it had worked for them

Is your phone branded? If so, you'll need to create a goldcard.

Then I followed the following guide... instead of typing anything, copy and paste...

How To Downgrade HTC Desire HD To Root It After OTA Update

this is essentially the same guide, but also has links for vids too

How to- Root HTC DESIRE HD – included Downgrade from 1.72.405.3 to 1.32 | iGyaan.in

I downgraded from Froyo, so am not 100% sure, but it should work the same way for Gingerbread. When you downgrade and root, you might as well get radio s-off at the same time - this would mean that you could go back to stock gingerbread and be able top get perm root (should you want to)

Hope this helps a little!! :D
