True. I was actually looking at Elizabeth, but also knowing that there are a few old presidents and Minister's Prime out there waiting to kick the bucket.
Does that make new sound like a jerk?
...meh, I pretty much am a jerk.

Queen Elizabeth? No she looks to be in great health. Duke of Edinburgh has been in hospital recently though.
But apparently none of the current royals want to be King/Queen, according to Prince Harry. Can't say I blame them.

Me either. A lifetime of being a target, with little reward. I mean, there isn't a huge pay raise, nor are they allowed to spend that money any way they'd like; the throne has little power anymore when it comes to governance, etc...

Anybody got Prince Harry's email. I'll take the job. They've got Samsung TVs everywhere in Buckingham Palace.

Stay chill and reign. A few appearances. Knight the ocassional truly gifted/clever peon. Take amazingly long vacations protected by the SAS everywhere you go.

I think I could handle that.

Lol! God save our gracious King Bobby!

Seriously though, I would hate to be a Royal. It's impossible for them to live normal lives. They're virtually captives in their own world. There are only very limited conventional jobs that members of the extended royal family can do. Armed forces being the obvious one. Other people less high up the chain have to be careful about using their royal connections to promote their own business interests (this has happened btw).

Okay. I get that but the Royals little piece of the world is "literally" pieces all over the world. Military service would not be a burden BTDT. Okay the SAS around all the time could get a little restrictive but i could deal.

You also get to troop the color, and address the nation on Christmas day.

If I'm not married does my sweetie still become The Queen or just a Royal Consort? Her daughter better be the Princess or I can't take the job.

They seem to make up titles for their other halves, so you could call her The Duchess of Massachusetts, or whatever.

WTF is troop the color?

Queen's birthday celebration. We get the flags out and parade around in silly hats. Tourists love it.

I love it LV! We call it Veterans Day in MA. But to get those bright read coats and bearskin hats we have Patriots' Day.

The Us military is positively drab now.

Camouflage dress unifoms? Tell it to the Marines.

I think on balance, the royals are worth it. And all the pomp and ceremony is a big draw for tourists. Besides, we can't have Buckingham Palace looking tatty can we?

Article made it a point to mention Queen was only able to save 900k for herself after it was all said and done. She pays for everything out of her 'salary'
