A friend of mine who also has the DX is trying to .sbf to install CM7. He is still on Froyo as he never took the GB OTA.

He's having an issue with RSD Lite. It won't recognize (connect) to his X. It's worked in the past for him so I'm thinking a different version of RSD Lite may not help. (he has MS Vista) Since he's still on froyo, would it really be necessary to .sbf? Maybe just a factory reset with a wipe cache and dalvik cache would work?

    Any suggestions?

    Is he on Rooted Froyo?
No need to SBF to Froyo if he is on FROYO Already?

yeah if he's on froyo no need to SBF. The flash will over write everything as it is. It's not a patch. I think then all that's needed is a data wipe and cache cleaning. basically factory reset

Remember not to use D2bootstrapper once on CM7. I believe that to be the correct order of files to flash.

You should let him know about MIUI and the other 2nd-init ROMs so he can see all his options lol

I cant speak on MIUI. I was only on it for a few hours. Was nice when it worked right. SSX was cool though.

hehe, i did it today with 35%... not much choice, but it still worked well enough. If you make sure and do a factory reset and clear dalvik, you can get away with less battery, but if you just SBF without doing so, it may take a while trying to get it to boot, hence the 80% warning.

Yea seems like the Golden Rule around here. I guess if you mess up and have to Redo something a strong battery is important because it wont charge when you're in CWR mode?

Not really a rebel, just forgot to make sure it was up to a decent level, but my other good habits went a long way toward a speedy recovery....
