I have a friend that works for Sprint Corporate and thats the big rumor going around today. It seems that it will be replaced with another HTC 4G handset yet to be announced. The new unit is set to release around December 1st 2010. A 4.5 inch LED screen is rumored as well as Android 3.0

Highly doubt it and very improbable. Thats less than 6 months and its their highest selling phone to date. Doubt its reached its usefel life already.

the rumors run wild.. fun but counter productive. :p

    that said..

4.5" would be great.. and without changing the dimensions of the phone itself.
fixing the camera glass protrusion would be great too.
adding incredible memory setup is good.
    better CPU and graphics perormance.
better 4G so that the phone will last a full day with it on.
    and... gorilla glass!!!!

More than likely they wouldn't extend the phones actual dimensions, they would just make the glass bigger.

The Windows Phone 7 drawing from HTC, is actually just a users "rendition" of what the HD3 COULD end up looking like. It's just a concept drawing, that was NOT done by HTC.

The Epic is pretty much the Evo '1-upper'. We'll see how it delivers.

I think the benchmarks will be good but Samsung has a track record of screwing up Android slider phones (Moment / Intercept) and it costs $50 more than the Evo.

I think the Evo demand will stay strong. We just ordered Evo #3 and are waiting 3rd in Best Buy's virtual line.

I called Rat Shack to see if they had an Evo and they are doing the 'buy a place in line' thing too. They tried to talk me into pre-ordering an Epic. No thanks.

All this having been said, look at the Incredible. Verizon can't keep them in stock either and they seem to be killing it off.

Hmm... it is possible... December sounds really soon but that's the window Sprint needs to hit in order to secure a reasonable amount of sales.. any time else and you're looking at lots of people locked still into their contracts (trickle demand).

When the HTC Touch Pro was launched, it suffered from lots of QC issues, much like we did. It also had high demand but low supply. In less than a year, the Touch Pro 2 was launched and Sprint was already replacing Touch Pros with Touch Pro 2s, with a memo stating that they were discontinuing the Touch Pro because it was a problematic handset that wasn't being fixed by HTC and that any subscriber with three or more exchanges should be pushed onto a Touch Pro 2 (mostly new ones to boot). So who knows, maybe this low supply thing with HTC is really pissing Sprint off and they're deciding to take another route with the Evo. But SOMETHING will come out in the winter window.. whether or not it's a new 4G phone is the question.

This is entirely plausible to me. Gingerbread (3.0) is out in October, so any December phone SHOULD have gingerbread.

And seeing as how many models HTC cranks out, there's no reason to doubt that they have a new model out for December, especially if the evo is constrained by Samsung's screens.

4.5" screen would be awesome if they keep the overall phone size constant.

Yeah, people, the Evo won't be champ forever. December release is primed to take advantage of xmas fever, so a lot of new and BETTER phones will come out.

I don't care i got mine already...And thats a load of bull anyways...Like their gonna cancel their FlagShip Phone and go months without a TopEnd Android Device Besides the EPIC 4G
  17. Can you please post the pre-order link. I want more ram, faster processer, higher resolution screen and Jessica Alba. Link please.

But seriously, I could see it happen, once the tech is cost effective get that junk to market. iPhone was baller, but they lagged getting better hardware out. Think HTC might have the mentality to keep producing the cutting edge and not looking back. If that's the case I'll be an HTC customer for awhile, I get bored of my phone and want more every 6 months anyway.

That might be hard to do. You would have to push on to the speaker and/or shrink the button spaces. As is with the minimal bezel of this thing I often touch the capacitive buttons on accident.

Not saying I wouldnt welcome a larger screen (especially if it came with a reso bump) but in a chassis of identical size it might be a big ask.

Doesn't seem like a smart move for Sprint's PR and branding scheme if it's true. EVO seems to have quite a following and the name is always put beside iphone as a top of the line smart phone. People place a lot value on having "the best phone of the moment", for at the very least, a year (see the iphone crazies). I wouldn't think having a phone that's discontinued 6 months out of the gate would set well with most owners.

Well who knows they could bring it out as the EvoPlus or something like that.
  21. .2 more inches isn't very exciting. the faster processor and more memory would be nice, but overall, the EVO isn't really lacking at this point, at least not for me to shell out several hundred $'s to upgrade it. It'll be intersting to see what happens by 2010 when my contract is up.

assuming the phone still works, i may not upgrade until it breaks.

It doesn't matter to me what Sprint comes out with for the rest of 2010 personally but I don't think they would replace the EVO by December...

If it's true, I'm going to push my wife to ditch her iPhone 3G and go with this phone.
