Root S-OFF question.

So I'm going to be getting this phone in the next few days, and I was wondering will any insulated wire work for this wire trick. My cousin has this phone and I tried it using a wire taken from one of my sisters projects. It carried current between a light bulb or power switch. I thought it would work but nothing happened besides corrupting his sdcard a couple times. I wanna do thus when I get mine and was wondering if anyone could help.

any wire should work... i used a simple paper clip

A paper clip. A core from a coaxial cable. Or what I did, which was two Ethernet cable cores twisted together.

You know, I was debating trying that. HOwever I happened to have a ton of ethernet cores lying around. So that's where those came into play for me

Okay so all i've succeed in doing is ******* up my sd card. I'm trying to do the wire trick but I get getting an error saying still sober.

Its your timing. If you're getting a still sober message, try little bit less time between taps. Example: Instead of 1.5 seconds, try 1.25 seconds.

Also, if you run into problems, or feel like taking a break, look at the unlimited.io site for how to restore your card. Should be something like ControlBear -r I think...

I've done this about 20 times. I've tried 5 different wires. Does this work for hboot 1.57? Also as soon as I touch the sdcard metal thing now it just reboots. Or it reboots into the bootloader then boots back to the jnupuntbear thing and still fails.

Yes it works 1.57. Just keep at it. Short touch, let go a second, short touch.
