I am contemplating on getting S-OFFed but I am not sure about 1 thing. On Alpharev website they recommend going back to rooted stock rom before trying to S-OFF. Here's the thing I cant be bothered to do that. Ive set up everything on my phone so I wondered if S-OFF is possible on Eveeks eMIUI ROM? Would I need to pick N1-table?? Tried asking on XDA forum but not geting any answers!

you dont need to pick n1 table for this, its just smaller system for larger data
you need to make a backup so you can restore after doing s-off as it often corrupts the rom so i dont see why you cannot do a backup, wipe and flash a sense rom, run s-off, restore your backup

its only one extra step and it ensures it will get done. the problem with some aosp roms is that the exploit doesnt work due to it being AOSP fixed rather than htc upatched hole

Yeah I guess I could back up and restore. Just seems long winded esp after flashing all week trying to shake off that dreaded sms force closes.

So how do I determine which modifield table I should choose? Everybody seems to be using N1-table  Need to do more research!

EDIT: If i flash stock sense rom do I choose Bravo stock 1.8 or Bravo Sense?

The S-Off data tables sizes are in my sigi, (under N1 Table). :D

Use quick system info from the market to determine your current partition size and how much of them you use, work out where you would be willing to save space and find the table from alpharev that best suits your needs.

Personally I find none of them fit my needs perfectly. So for this reason, I use a custom layout as per my sig

I know flashed configs might waste a few Mb's, but is there a need to be soooo precise? :)

Precise? I've got 12MB left in system!

    Anyway, its called "Optimisation" ;)

you dont have to choose any
the alpharev tool installs a normal mtd layout , its only if you manually change it after s-off do you need to be concerned about it

you need to backup anyway, quite ofted running s-off first time corrupts the rom and needs restoring.

Thanx for clarifying that rastaman. Im starting to understand this better now.

I think I'll do more reading before going ahead with S-OFF as I understand if it isnt done right I could permanently brick my phone!

its rare but it can happen
make sure you check the md5 of the files before using them

And be careful to avoid cable disconnect or power loss during the operation.

Wow 12 whole Mb? A ZX Spectrum emulator wouldn't know what to do with so much optimisation. :p

Thats what I'm saying. Not exactly precise. Miles (or MB's) out

Congrats! Did it myself over the weekend - rather quick and painless, but still the tensest phone-related operation since rooting, even though I figure the actual risk was prob slightly less than flashing a radio.

Only thing I've done with it so far is delete ROM Manager - repartitioning my internal memory to something less wasteful will come next time I get restless ;)

Thanks buddy! The first thing I did was delete the awful looking jean themed MIUI music and I replaced it with a modded purple and black version based on previous update. It looks sexy as hell :D

EDIT: I'll probably repartition my internal memory when I need it. Its not required at the moment but its nice to know I have that option now!

Thanks guys. Actually I always thought that partitioning memory would be what pushed me to S-Off, but in the end it was more a matter of "because it was there".

I suspect we all know that feeling though :D

if you do this you will want to use my guide as you are using amonRA recovery

hopefully you are using ra 2.0.1 and not 2.0.0 as it doesnt backup all of ext only the apps so it might not backup the dalvic if its been moved to ext (it does on 2.0.1)

anyway my guide is based on amonRA users as there are a few changes
