3.5 is not that small I've watched hundreds of movies on the iphone and it's nice to be able to comfortably use a phone one handed, I just wish Apple would've changed to a lighter material instead of all glass.. I love the gs2, but it is slightly too wide and tall imo, that is my only complaint.

I just did a firmware update on my S2 and the instructions needed a translator from broken Engrish to English (not that I needed them), it's just funny how unpolished Kies is. I swear Samsung just has a bunch of interns pushing this product out with no supervision.

I'm no Apple fan, but Kies is probably one of the worst written programs on the planet.

i dunno, i think nokia's PCsuite could challenge that title....

im over 6 foot with large hands. for too many years ive struggles with miniature buttons and screens, hell i reckon using a table for a phone might look normal for me!.

    Pretty much
Its just the app store that tops android market. And the fact that everything in it is meant for IPhone. Simple and straightforward.

But there would always be things that SGS2 tops it (For Now??). USB support and microSD card. Doubt Apple would go down that road since they are such control freaks when it comes to IOS.

    :D

Turns out the CPU on the iPhone 4S is clocked at 800MHz.

Great GPU but weak CPU, you have to wonder why as even budget Android Tablets have 1GHz Dual Core. The power saving mode on the S2 drops the CPU to 800MHz when enabled and it's noticable.

One thing that was not mentioned at the iPhone 4S launch was what RAM it came with!

Speculation was that it was 1GB but no solid proof. Even GSMArena avoid mentioning the iPhone 4S's RAM in their spec's, here:-

Apple iPhone 4S - Full phone specifications

Well it seems the cat is out of the bag and the iPhone 4S sports an incredible... 512MB of RAM... that's right... the same amount of RAM as the iPhone 4... but on a dual core phone if these posts are to be believed!

The iPhone 4S Appears to Have 512MB RAM - Mac Rumors

iPhone 4S rumored to offer 512MB RAM instead of 1GB | TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog

iPhone 4S sticks with 512MB of RAM, reports say | Apple Talk - CNET News

I don't have to tell Samsung Galaxy SII owners that that is half of what we have... two thirds of the HTC Sensation and the single core HTC Desire HD's 768MB and the same as the Nexus One.

Now we all know by now that the iPhone 4 is not truly multi tasking in the way that the SGSII is. So it's a safe bet that the new iPhone 4S won't be any better. In fact, with a dual core, it may well be struggling.

Not about to start Kies war or anything :)
For me it works great, connects every single time, whether I use cable or wifi through browser. Whether it's on my PC, iMac or Mackbook Pro, not once had a problem with it. On the contrary to my iTunes, which on number of occasions wiped out my music out my ipods, couldn't detect the devices etc... Perhaps i'm just lucky with it till now, but I find it far more easy and friendly to use.
The one and only complain I have about Kies is that it won't allow me to type SMS longer than 3 pages :(

    have a good day :)
    regards

i saw this post (posted by an apple fanboy on facebook) that the dual core iphone 4s was rated nearly double the SGS2 on some benchmark.. is that possible? im not really impressed by benchmarks as the true performance to me is when handling tasks that i actually perform :D but im still curious

I suppose it depends on the particular bench test used... One that might, in some way, favour the iphone.

But I'm gonna take a gamble and call BS on that.

Agreed. IPhone 4S won't be that fast. Or maybe it can. IPhone can download from Apple Store and we can't :p

My iPhone 4 has around 320MB free after a boot, and my S2 has around 500MB.

The S2 may have 1GB, but in reality you're not getting the full benefit. Sure, there's probably ROMS that can trim this usage down a bit, but i can't think of many use cases where 1GB is really necessary, unless you're running dozens of apps in the background (which is a battery killer anyway).

I think 512MB is plenty, and this won't be detrimental to ANYTHING you want to do on an iPhone 4 or 4S

You may be right redcard... but I doubt it!

As I type this, my SGSII is connected by WiFi to MyPhoneExplorer PC Suite on the laptop, is playing a song, connected to Skype, polling emails, updating the weather and news widgets, using GPS for Location, connected to Google+ and displaying active widgets on my home screen... I take all this for granted on the SGSII and do not have to close things down to flip quickly between functions or wait for them to load or update

I know from experience that the iPhone 4 cannot do this as it is not truly multi tasking. Therefore if the 4 cannot do this on a single core with 512MB... what makes you think that the 4S will be able to on a dual core with 512MB I wonder.

    Gotta agree with ironass.

I've had some heavy multi-tasking sessions on my S2. It's only when I finish and put the phone down I realise how much I was actually doing.

I didn't know iphones weren't good at multi tasking and dual core cpu's won't make it much better at it. It's something that's controlled by the OS ...

You have to remember that iphones use hardware acceleration in IOS, so the GPU is in use through out the OS and not just in apps like android (This will change in ICS). The GPU in the 4S is the PowerVR SGX543MP2 which is supposedly around 3 times faster than the GPU in the SGS2.

No hes not exactly right, Galaxy S2 has 837MB of memory available, Android always reserves a small amount which is why the full amunt of memory is never available for applications.

It doesnt matter how much of the 837MB is free, android will use the memory if it's available and free up more memory for applications if they need it..

I had an iPhone 3G which was amazing at the time and now I have the SG2 which is A.MAZING! Custom ROM + Go Launcher EX is a BIG win. The reason I would never go back to an iPhone is because I used to hate syncing with iTunes and it's a kind of a no frills "what you see is what you get phone". Whereas Android if fully customizable which means a lot to me.

Apple had better pull out the stops with the iPhone 5 but I dunno where they can go. People LOVE the new design so maybe changing would do more harm than good but at the same time it will be disappointing with the same old look. Personally I think Samsung will have something up their sleeve which will change a lot of peoples thinking about Apple.

Android may be getting market share, but that's because practically all the phone companies (except APPLE) are using it. How about a comparison just between IPhone4 and SGS2?

And the table is comparing SGS2 vs IPhone4s but graph shows a different intention?
