Hysteria, hype and advertising plus, you don't have to be too smart to work it.

In fairness, having played with the 4S at the weekend, it is well built and does what it says on the box. albeit, not as fast as the SGSII.

    Apple iPhone 4S benchmark tests

Looks like the 800Mhz iPhone 4S blows away any Android device on the Linpac test.

170 MFLOPS compared to an average of 90 MFLOPS I get with my GS II.

First of all there is a lot of Apple fanboys/girls around world and they buy every next model no matter what, even if it was total crap...;)
And i think other story with I4S is that Steve Jobs died 2 days after this model was presented and i already seen in few places ppl saysing that I4S mean Iphone 4 Steve and they will buy it as tribute to SJ...
His death probably increased selling of this model by another few %, but thats just my theory... ;)

I fear it may be more than a theory Twinn.

Such is the cult and charisma built around the late Steve Jobs, that already the foundations are being laid to ensure that the loyal followers do not now desert the iPhone 5 and Apple by announcing that it, and not the 4S, is truly the swan song of the great man.

    See here:-

Analyst says iPhone 5 was Steve Jobs’ last project; expected this summer

Is the iPhone 5 Steve Jobs' final project? - News - play.tm

Steve Jobs' last big project: iPhone 5 - Times Of India

Steve Jobs dead: Apple boss left plans for 4 years of new products | Mail Online

Would Apple stoop so low as to use the death of its leader to sell one more iPhone under the Jobs name or are they so fearful of the cult that surrounded the saviour of Apple, that served the company so well in the past, that they are afraid that with his demise the Apple kudos and currency will be depleted and devalued.

    Only time will tell.

However, I do not think that this is the last time we will see Steve Jobs name linked to an Apple product in the future.

You tried out the 4S already? How come you mentioned its not as fast as SGS2 when benchmarks seems to indicate its faster? Or is that hype too? :D

The key word in your sentence is, "seems".

I played with it for nearly an hour and in my opinion, overall, it is not as fast as the SGSII.

Browser benchmarks mean little in real-life.... unless all you do is browse the web. :)

I think he's referring to the bench test that was done on both the iP4S and SGS2.

The iP4S came out with double the benchmark score.

Just received my first Android Galaxy S2 since I had the HTC Hero a few years ago. The Hero was just too small for me so I ended up getting an iPhone 4. Loved it for the past year and decided I would buy the new 4S. My wife was happy to get my iPhone 4 and still loves it! I have had the 4S for a week now and it is going back to Apple!! To me, as an upgrade from the 4, it is a big letdown!! Siri is a plaything you will get tired of, and it would take a genius to see the difference in the quality of photos compared with the 4. The final straw was the speaker packed up yesterday and I decided to give Android another go. My, my, how Android has grown up in the past few years!! I have spent all day getting to know the S2 and I cannot believe how good it is!!! Apple needs to wake up as the good guys are after them!! I just love the Galaxy S2!!!!!

    Welcome aboard, bigbren!

I still have mine and the difference over the space of two-and-a-half years is astonishing. That's progress for you. :)

    Ah my bad. :)

I don't believe it either. I reckon that test heavily favours iOS 5...

These browser benchmarks test certain browser features.. browser manufacturers can deliberately ensure that their browsers get high benchmark scores by optimising them for the tests, even when it doesn't follow through in real world use.

The iPhone 4S scores double the Galaxy S2 in the BrowserMarks benchmark, yet every side-by-side comparison video of the two phones loading websites put them at about equal speed. It's usually a case of the Galaxy wins one, the iPhone wins one, they draw a couple, etc.. there's no clear winner on either side. Surely if benchmarks meant anything, the 4S should be twice as fast (as it gets twice the score).

Benchmark scores are marketing ploys just like the megapixel count for cameras.

The interesting thing is that the iPhone 4S manages to be as a fast, and seems to be smoother at times, than the Galaxy S2 with only half the RAM. Seems like Android could use some optimisations :p

Whilst I agree that the iPhone 4S's browser is reasonably fast and on a par with the SGSII, so long as you don't have Flash enabled and even then with Flash enabled on the SGSII it was roughly the same, my experience with it was that the scrolling was definitely not as smooth, or as fast, as the SGSII and that after opening a few things a distinct lag crept in whilst it "sorted" itself out, so to speak. Since it is not truly multi-tasking, I guess it was caching stuff so that other app's could be opened.

Optimisations that don't void my warrant please ;)

Yeah scrolling is definitely better on the SGS2.. you can see that no matter how fast you flick the iPhone's browser, it only scrolls in steps. I wonder if this is due to performance reasons, they probably got stutters/lag when flicking it around like you can with the Galaxy.

I like the way both phones scroll web pages, but I think I've definitely "over-scrolled" much more on the galaxy s2. Galaxy s2 you can get the bottom of a web page faster and the iPhone you can get back to the top faster by double clicking the status bar, it's about preference IMO.

i've been an iphone user (2G, 3GS & 4) since December 2007. after seeing the disappointing specs at the launch of the iphone 4S (i so much wanted a "5", bigger screen, more ram, new design etc), i decided to get an S2 after reading all the rave reviews.

i was not disappointed. always knew that Android was a great little OS, but never realised just how customizeable it is.

Amazing ain't it? And you don't need to root to customize too. Unlike IPhone where you need to jailbreak.
