S4 4.2.2 wifi tether issue rooted

I bought a new phone and I sent it to unlock, they rooted it for me. I'm not sure which rom they installed but I can't seem to use my s4 as a personal hot spot. It seemed to work fine on my iPhone 4s but here it keeps on disconnecting and is extremely slow.

Any advice would be a great help.

There could be any number of causes for this particular problem. We could use more details about your phone in order to help you. Could you please resubmit your question with information such as which version of android it's running, the name of the rom, etc. This will all be found under Settings -> About Phone.

It might also be carrier related...I have MetroPcs and I saw in this thread http://androidforums.com/metro-pcs/743316-tethering-tip-using-seamonkey.html some instructions to use the Seamonkey browser in order to bypass the carrier tethering restrictions
