Root S4 (i9505) stuck in recovery mode - how do i revive it

I've been trawling threads and failing to fix my s4 - 19505

My Samsung s4 i9505 is completely dead. In trying to load the stock image I think i've deleted the bootloader / pit everything i think.

all my phone shows is the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". Kies doens't recognise the phone though.

Odin does but i don't know what i need to load to fix it.... please help me

1 - if i just load the stock image it says:

<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/006> Initialzation..
<ID:0/006> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/006> There is no PIT partition.

2 - i've downloaded some sort of PIT file and tried this (no expert if this was right)

But does the image contain a bootloader? do i need to flash something else first?
Please help me understand what to download and then how to use Odin correctly.

Try following the steps in this guide to using Kies to restore your OS.

Only connect your phone to PC when you get to step 6 and Connect with phone in download mode.

Thanks for helping but i couldn't get any further...
It came up as "GT-I9505 does not support initialising" - any other methods you're aware of?

Have a look at this thread. Pit files for 16gig phones at bottom of page. Instructions say to Include pit file with the current firmware file when you flash with Odin.
