After my Samsung A5 Duos fell in the water for 2-3 secs, I dried it with paper towels and put it in a bag with a silica gel pack and rice overnight. Then I charged my phone, it was back to normal for around 10 secs and switched to Safe Mode. There was also a warning screen about downloading a custom OS that appeared a few times. My phone was also powering off and restarting on its own. What should I do?

An automatic restart is normal after an important software upgrade. I'm not sure if the restart is linked to your water issue.

If the phone restarts more than once, it could be a problem.

This phone is quite old and there have been other problems before so I'm gonna buy a new phone! I just want to know if it's possible to get my files stored on the phone.

Yes, mostly photos. I pushed the volume down button at the custom OS warning screen to restart my phone but it switched to ODIN mode to download a custom OS.

Maybe overnight wasn't enough to dry it completely. Try a week, to try and ensure that all moisture is out of everything. Assuming something is not already shorted and fried.

going forward i would recommend that you use google photos. it automatically stores them on the cloud and when you get a new device or factory reset your device and sign in they will be there once everything is synced up. i never ever have to worry about my photos again.

not sure what you can do at this point. like mikedt said i would power it off, but it back in a plastic bag with rice and leave it there for a bit longer. if that does not work then maybe it is time to upgrade.
