Help Samsung Acclaim wont sinc with computer

Hi, my samsung acclaim will not connect to the driver. I have tried to plug it in all of the usb ports and all it does is charge my phone. I took it to US Cellular and it worked on their computer so she said I probably needed to update my driver. I have tried to follow directions for it and it responds that i have the updated driver already. Is there anyone who knows how to fix this. My computer is a Gateway bought in 06 with windos xp.....please help

When its connected, can you drop down the notification bar and touch the usb connected, then select to mount it?
