samsung galaxy 5 i5500 question

Hi

I recieved my new phone yesterday, and ive been trying to setup everything, but one thing is puzzeling me. With the phone came a standard 1GB micro-SD card, which i offcourse plugged into my phone, then i went to install apps and so on, but i am not able to install/copy onto the SD card, if i use my camera, i get a statement saying that my SD card is not installed.
I then started looking at the SD functions, but i cant really find anything usefull in my manual, nor can i find anything on google, so my question is, what do i have to do to get my phone to recognize the SD card? Is there something simple i need to do?

Have you tried re formatting it in phone settings? Perhaps try formatting it in computer first??
