i get an error while flashing when it reaches system.img.ext4. on the phone it says volume size is too big.

I found a new site for firmware today. I've never used it before but it is supposed to be Samsung Service Files in 4 parts and it has the 530T1 listed

yea. but they wont give me the serial number. apparently the phone was activated before my friend got it, and he hasn't been very truthful with where he got it from. I need the serial to use the emergency recovery..

Ok, here's the deal, MetroPCS firmware (SM-g530T1) has not been officially released. The threads I have seen indicate that you can use the firmware for the T-Mobile variant. However, there appears to be a difference in the Partition Information Table (PIT) which has caused some problems.
This link is for an original MetroPCS firmware...PIT included. Use caution. The source is not XDA Developers.

This is what Heimdall does. It is a bit more technical than Odin. I struggle with it.

Yes, pit should be in the zip with firmware.

I am not sure, though, if you should flash the pit separately or along with the firmware.

i saw the pit file, but it wasnt .pit. it was just Odin3. but the file was .pit.ini
