You can use an app like APD TimeStamp to "stamp" the EXIF time (the time recorded in the picture's metadata) on the picture itself. The camera app in the phone can't do it by itself. (You can stamp the picture at any time after you took it - the EXIF data is recorded at the time you take it, so a picture you took last year and stamp today will still have last year's date on it.)
