As of now with stock firmware (jm8), the battery life is draining slightly faster, but that is expected.. However when I was using tayutamas mod (full version) ,the battery drain was much more significant.. Barely even a day... However right now im getting a full days use but with very heavy use of wifi and edge, so that's pretty good... However stock jm8 without voodoo had some really impressive battery life...

Yup.. Just hope samsung releases the source code for froyo soon, that way supercurio can get a voodoo fix for froyo (which I'm sure we will need judging by jpk and jph)

Lets wait and see if this gets ported to the sgs (banking on someone at xda) ...also wait for cyanogens mod , they are building it almost from scratch. Koushik (of rom manager fame ) had tweeted that he will begin working on the i9000 very soon.. So fingers crossed...

no, am using jg4 with voodoo and get about 3 days with a full charge. right now i am at 46% and 1d 22h since last charge :) voodoo also puts a new ultra-low brightness mode which saves a ton of battery!

Thanx for the reply mate. voodoo has some problem with JM7 and JM8.
But whats the point of using AMOLED without brightness.:p:p.AMOLED is designed to save power. I think low brightness is good only if you read books in night having all the lights off.
I love to see my screen with good amount of brightness even with higher battery drain.

Buddy right now JM8 is much stable and smoother than JPK.

From this, you will get all the instructions and ROM.

1.) Format the internal and external sd card. Dont forget to take backup.
2.) Do a factory rest and wipe from recovery.Remove sim and sd card.
3.) Flash stock JM8 from samfirmware. (detailed Instructions are given here.
    Release: I9000XWJM8 - Multi CSC(s) Europe - xda-developers

4.) you can also use indian csc file from below link (ddjg4).
    xda-developers - View Single Post - Release: I9000XWJM8 - Multi CSC(s) Europe

    5. ) Then after successfull flash of stock JM8, let the phone reboot and choose "English" language from settings.

    6. ) Flash tayutama's ROM thru "update.zip" method. Instruction are given here:--

Yup you can flash it. Just follow the steps. format the cards (internal+external) . then do wipe. Then flash thru odin with repartition checked.

Question: You guys use any navigation softwares? If yes, which one and would you recommend it to others? I'm from Bangalore if that matters.

    Thanks!

I am using a Galaxy with Reliance GSM.

I have subscribed to Mobilenet 99 plan of Reliance - However i am able to only browse (that too, at pathetic speed) but not able to use any apps like Android Market or Gtalk.

Please help. Talking to Reliance customer care so far has been a waste of time - they haven't heard of Android as well it seems.

Suggestions for operators / GPRS plans are welcome :)

    regards,
    Nandi

I have tried Aircel and Airtel GPRS plans. Aircel had pathetic speeds. (At least, in Bangalore. However, my friend in Kochi used to get near 30 KBps speeds. Go figure!!)Airtel GPRS generally gives better speeds, and comes with 2 GB download limit, which is more than enough for most purposes.

I'm using Tata Docomo's GPRS plan right now and although the speed isn't great, I'd say it's decent. I've downloaded 20MB files from the samsung app store using this connection, directly from my mobile and keep downloading something or the other from the android marketplace on a daily basis. I'm on the Rs.95-6GB/month plan.

However, I wouldn't recommend them for their calling facilities:)

    Place: Hyderabad

I also have the Rs.99 plan from Airtel, and it is really good. I download apps regularly from the market, browse the web and check emails using it and most of the times it works well.
