As I was trying to unlock my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant i9000M that was originally tied to Virgin Mobile Canada, I found quite a few issues. Finally after successfully unlocking it , I am posting some information here for the benefit of others.
    1. First of all, I used the video in this link to follow to unlock. It worked perfectly once I fixed some common issues I found myself while trying to unlock. YouTube - Unlock Samsung Galaxy S from stock Android 2.2 Froyo

Windows unable to recognize my Samsung Galaxy S
Initially, I was unable to Root the phone because my device was not being detected. If I connect my device, system said, it was unable to install the driver. For this, I got the driver from
    64bit:
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x64.shtml
    32bit:
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x86.shtml
Once I installed the driver, it worked and my Windows 7 was able to recognize the device.

After reading a few forums, none of them worked. However installing driver was the best solution.
Once this was done, everything else as mentioned in the youtube video led the path.

So folks, maybe one of the experts may know the answer to my question.
Now that I have unlocked my device using Superoneclick and Galaxy Unlock Tool, whats going to happen to my device when upgrade the OS to the next version something like GingerBread?
Does it automatically get locked just like an iPhone?

Q2: What will happen if I have to reset the device to factory condition? Will it reset my locking?

    Thanks in advance.
