At a pre-MWC event in Barcelona, Samsung made their Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 Official, bringing the next evolution of their Android devices that rose to stardom in 2010. Samsung claimed they’ve sold 10 million Galaxy devices last year and the latest additions, while nothing groundbreaking, definitely bring some welcome updates that consumers will [...]

Samsung is not messing around. I think Galaxy S 2 is offering some stuff the Atrix is....without a laptop dock and webtop software.

I took notice of the Galaxy S line last year....I might be leaning towards them this year....lol

Unless Samsung announces a deal where another company like HTC provides all future support, I'll pass. Great hardware is just plain frustrating when pared with lousy support.

Have you ever used a Samsung product before? Samsung has one of the best customer supports. They replaced my friend's Samsung Galaxy S Captivate for free even though he had bought it used from someone on craigslist and the phone malfunctioned after a week of use.

They also gave a full refund to everyone that had bought their Computers with the Intel's new Sandy Bridge processors, which had alot of problems. Samsung was not responsible for the problems on Sandy Bridge processors and they didn't have to in any means, replace even one of the Computers.

Have any other companies stand behind their products like this? Samsung has.

Really? Then all us Galaxy S users in the U.S without updates and crappy GPS must have all lost our minds. Please point me to a legitimate copy of Froyo so I may update my phone.

I know users from the US that are already on 2.2, if you can't follow some basic flashing instructions with odin then please just buy another phone so I don't have to listen to you whine anymore. ;)

His point was Samsung hasnt done anything to push out updates to their phones.. they suck at that and they always have. You shouldnt have to root your phone and flash a custom rom as long as froyo has been out.

You guys haven't realized that the Froyo update for Galaxy S is already out.

Samsung promised Froyo update for the Galaxy S phones. What they didn't promise was a set date in which the Froyo will arrive to the Galaxy S phones. Samsung kept their promise and you guys are bashing Samsung for something they didn't do wrong.

Btw, the phone has been out for 6 months. That's not terribly "long" to wait for an update.

The HTC/T-mobile myTouch 3g was updated to Froyo about 2 weeks ago.. those phones came out in 2009.

The Sony Xperia X10 was updated to 2.1 and they're stopping there.

I think whats the problem is the Galaxy S line is a top of the line, high end Android phone. Compare the US folks waiting for Froyo to the Droid X getting Froyo about 2 months after it was released. The Droid X came out in July last year. I think the first US Galaxy S phone came out in June, last one in Sept.

If comparing that to the Droid X, the first US Galaxy S phone shoulda had Froyo by Aug, and the last one by Oct. We all can sit and guess and assume why it didnt happen that way, but bottom line is compred to other manufactures, they are slower with updates. This has also been brought up doing the old Win Mo days.

You don't have to root a phone to be able to flash and you don't need to flash custom roms, you can also flash unofficial firmwares or betas.

    I've never flashed a custom rom. :)

At the end of day you have to ask yourself does it really matter? The only real benefit to even having froyo on a SGS is flash support which is not something I use that much on my phone.

The Galaxy S even on the stock firmware will still run all the latest games and demanding apps faster than any other phone available, people need to remember that and stop whining, what would you rather have? The fastest hardware available or slower hardware with more frequent updates?

No amount of software updates will ever make a Droid/X or Snapdragon based phone faster than a Galaxy S in the most demanding apps we have available, 3d games!! :D

Guys, let's not bicker. Click through and read about the S2 and Tab 10.1 and keep a towel handy because you will drool.

The S2 is what the Nexus S should have been--a 4.3" super amoled with 16/32G plus AN EXPANSION SLOT (hello, Google, you listening?). At last, I'll be able to get all of my 60 gigs of music onto my phone. Then there's the 8MP camera plus 2MP forward facing cam, USB 3.0, and many other features.

As for the Tab 10.1, well I really want and need a tablet--I'm flying about 3-4 times a month right now and I am sick of lugging a huge, paleolithic laptop. But the price is still a little high for these puppies. I'm going to just control myself and wait for a dozen Honeycomb devices to be out on the market, and then will pick one up refurbished or discounted. Or maybe break down and get an iPad--what the heck, they're the best.

Frankly, though, the Tab's features fall slightly short of the S2's. But this is all good news anyway. Where are all the other innovators with their awesome hardware (hello again, Google, where's the Nexus Tablet that comes down from Mt. Sinai to change the world????)

    :)

Your not missing out on much, just flash.

Why can't you just be happy with what you have or do you just like complaining?

    P.S. I've used 2.2 (Evo), it's not just flash.
