Welcome to Android Forums!
1. I would be devastated if i lost my itunes library! it took me YEARS to buy (occasionally "share" it). I do like the system and its the main reason im hesitant to switch.
You iTunes library will remain intact, although if you don't have an iDevice, then it will become unnecessary. Copy your iTunes music folders to the SD card on your Android phone and that's it for transferring music. I keep mine simply for organization in a folder called music. It looks something like this ... music/artist/album/tracks.mp3. Then, if you have any playlists you want to transfer, then export them from iTunes as .m3u files and put them in a folder called "playlists". The only problem you might have is with music purchased prior to 2007 when Apple still had DRM attached. If that becomes an issue, then let us know and we'll let you know what your options might be.
2. I suspect that the iphone 4s will be more expensive than the galaxy s2...
Not a clue. If it's like it is here in the U.S., they should be pretty close in price.
3. I keep reading that the OS for the Galaxy S2 is purely for the geeks, now i dont mind a little bit of geekery but i aint no rocket scientist.... will the newer easier to use ice cream sandwich OS be available to run on the Galaxy S2 or should i wait even longer and get the samsung nexus??
The beauty of Android is that it works at all levels. If you don't want to geek around ith it, then it will be fine as stock. If you want to don the taped glasses and propeller beanie, then you root, flash and play until the Star Trek marathon starts
I would be shocked if the S2 didn't get Android 4.0 (ICS), but it may take a little time. If you want to be first, then the Galaxy Nexus will be worth the wait ... maybe. Since nobody has one yet, it's all speculation.
4. I have a nostalgic soft spot for Nokia... i would like them to do well... whats the skinny on the best new Nokias out there? Its seems to me that at the moment my choice is Samsung Galaxy S2 or iphone 4s.... any other kinky fone suggestion people have??
There are other very good phones available, but it's really up to you. Spec's won't tell you how each one feels in your hands (or pocket) and the manufacturers UI's tend to create a strong argument for each phone either pro or con. It's mostly personal preference.
Im sure these have all been asked a million times so i apologise but im getting sick of looking at the pictures and im about to do some impulsive shopping.... whats down their after I leap??
The wonderful world of Android.
