My samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket just randomly started restarting itself a day or two. It seems to do it when tilted to the side but I can't understand why that would cause it to restart. I have not dropped it once.

If the power switch (which is inside, behind the button) is loose, tilting the phone so that the weight of the button falls on the switch can keep the switch pressed. That results in the phone constantly rebooting. If that's the case (tilt it, then see if the power button has any effect - if it doesn't, that's the case), the switch has to be replaced. It's a cheap part, but requires soldering, and taking the phone apart is really one of those "don't do this at home" things, unless you have experience with microelectronics. (If you don't already have a "third hand" and a place you put Torx-4 screws, you probably should pay someone experienced to do it.)
