I have Samsung Galaxy Y Duos (GT S6102) model.

I rooted my phone two days ago taking off a few factory apps like google talk, social hub, google playbooks etc. I also uninstalled Samsung Account, Samsung Home from the phone thinking they will not be useful. After that I rebooted the phone. It got stuck at SAMSUNG welcome screen for a very long time. I attempted reboot for a couple of times but to no relief. Thereafter I did hard reset and rebooted. It opened thereafter as a new phone seeking for account settings, software update setting etc. but kept on force closing and was not able to do any of these settings. Therefore, I pressed escape & escape & escape.

However, finally, the SIM cards are connected but I am able to only receive messages and incoming calls via notification bar. Home screen is completely black and desktop is not visible. Not able to access any Settings, apps, messaging and other tabs on the phone. Though I am able to access SD card thru USB cable. Lock Screen is visble.

    Please help.

If "Samsung Home" was the "Touchwiz Home" app that is the launcher, which provides your desktop and app drawer. So deleting that would explain some of your problems. First rule: if you don't know absolutely for sure what a system app does, don't delete it (though I guess you've learned that lesson now). All a factory reset does is clear data, so you can never restore a deleted app using that.

So, simplest thing to try: if the phone has an internet connection and is signed in to your Google account, go to a computer and go to play.google.com, find Nova Launcher and select "install". That will send the launcher app to your phone and install it. Then you would need to launch it, but if we are lucky pressing the home button will do that for you.

You could also try using ADB to install a launcher, if you can find the apk and have usb debugging turned on.

If you can't get a replacement launcher to start then the alternative is to download a replacement set of firmware for your phone (e.g. from sammobile.com) and use a program called Odin to reflash the phone. I've never done this with a Samsung, but that should give you enough information that you can find a description of the process.

    Welcome to our AndroidForums, @vjain64.

We also have a root forum for your device http://androidforums.com/forums/root-samsung-galaxy-y-duos.1323/ that I could move your thread to (or you could post a new thread in) if you wished (just let me know).

The folks in there should be also be able to point you to other specific recovery options / methods for your device (aside from the excellent ones that @Hadron did (and always does) provide).

    Cheers!

Thanks Hadron. Your advise was very helpful. After few attempts, I could successfully flash my phone using ODIN. My problem is now resolved and its working fine. I shall be careful now onward not to temper with these things unnecessarily :):)

Thanks Scary Alien too. You may move it to other forum if you find it appropriate.

    Thanks again.
