This is the link for the facebook page for USCellular stating the update... Facebook Mobile
Available in stores that have tech centers, as of today. Available online after 14 June.
Whoever gets the "patch" installed will have to let the rest of us know how it goes, ok.
Is it going to have any impact on battery life? That's my main gripe with Froyo.
I got the update today... took no time at all. The time consuming thing is putting all my apparel back in place. So I'm starting all over fresh! We'll see in a few days how it works out!
So, are you saying that you had to reinstall all of your apps, contacts, etc.?
It is a complete wipe and reload. You have to reinstall your applications.
You don't lose contacts, assuming they're all google or facebook contacts in the first place.
Phone contacts will be erased if you don't export them to your SD card first.
Had this done today. Will report back on issues (if any)
The phone is brought back to the first day you got it. Of course there is a contacts back up, you do not lose your pictures, and I chose not to back up my apps, because I wanted to start fresh. But there is a place to also save your apps. You just have to re-customize your phone wall paper and app placements, along with your setting adjustments( ring tone etc.).
Would there be any reason to wipe the sd card, and be totally right out of the box?
Didn't you already have the leaked version?
Yep. Ran the leaked version until just before Memorial day weekend. USB port was no longer recognizing anything other than my charger, so I couldn't do anything with ODIN. I never got CWM working properly, either. The phone in the last few days leading up to that weekend had begun doing very random and strange things, and I had not made any changes to it (other than apps here and there) for 4-6 weeks.
Was on the road for a project, and the phone rebooted itself randomly and came back up in airplane mode. It would not reboot out of airplane mode after that. I was 2 hours from home, had to have a phone, so I just factory wiped as a last resort. That got me on the radio again, so I could make calls. I took it in the next day and swapped it out. They wiped the phone and put the 2.2.1 stock update on it and gave it to me to use until the swap arrived.
As soon as I received my swap phone, I rooted it with S1C, but that's all I've done so far. I was waiting on the EE19 patch before I really started to play with it again.
Now I'm waiting on (yet another) swap, the replacement phone they sent me was obviously a refurb. The LED flash did not work.
So I have a stock, unrooted EE19 version in my hands right now. Not going to mess with it since I will be sending it right back next week.
Once the new one gets here...we'll see. If EE19 works well, I'll probably just root it and leave it alone for a while.
I like have Titanium Backup, and being able to freeze the bloatware. The rest of it is just "fun to play with" so I'll see how much I want to flash other ROMs after I've used it for a while.
They did mention that a new Samsung phone will be coming out later this year. Works for me, just in time for my Belief Project points to give me another phone upgrade...
Stay away from the US Cellular Android 2.2.1 update for the Samsung Mesmerize!!!
It is total crap, it will basically brick your phone!
Missed calls, apps won
