I am new to this forum so if there is a better place to leave this message please let me know.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s5 phone and am trying to use Apple Airpods with it. They pair fine and work fine for talking. With applications like Messenger and Whats App I can hear fine though the Airpods.

I cannot use the voice to text through the Airpods, it seems to continue to be utilizing the cell phone microphone. I can use voice to text with Google itself. I tried a pair of Bose earbuds (the Soundsport free wireless) in the apple store and seemed to have the same problem.

I do not have google assistant turned on, I am just trying to press the button on the phone to speak and talk through the Airpods.

Does anyone specifically know if this function (voice to text on Messenger or Whats app) works with Apple earbuds and/or works with Bluetooth earbuds in general?) I really like the Airpods and want to use them but cannot find a specific answer to the question via Apple, Samsung, my carrier, online etc. The reviews online all suggest that Airpods pair and work fine with android just do not have the siri function, battery function etc. Also if I buy another earbud it may have the same problem.

I have really tried everything possible with support, network and phone resets etc. but no one has answered me if it is supposed to work.

    Thank you!

Does voice to text for messaging work on any bluetooth device via Samsung s5?

I haven't used my S5 in awhile but when I did I had a cheap Samsung Blue Tooth ear piece and it worked flawlessly with voice to text. I've been using the same one with my S7, which it also works fine with.

Long shot but pull down the notification bar and long press Bluetooth. Check to see if media and audio is selected in the settings for the headphones. Not sure if the option was there on the s5 but I've had problems with Bluetooth because it defaulted to audio only.

Thanks on that. So voice to text works with some things. Not sure why not the Airpod and the Bose set! I have tried Samsung service, apple service, the apple store, verizon, and T-mobile stores, and everything I could find online. Thinking of going to Best Buy next as I am just totally out of ideas!

Yes long press Bluetooth, find Airpod device, click settings, under the word profile shows both Call Audio and Media audio on.

Thanks for trying. If any other ideas let me know please.
