Samsung Vibrant & Syncing w Outlook

Does anyone have the STRAIGHT scoop on how to sync with Microsoft Outlook WITHOUT using gmail, google, yahoo, etc?

I have been using a Blackberry and just bought the Vibrant two days ago. I think I will have to return this phone because it only seems to sync contacts, calendar, and notes through google, which I refuse to do.

I have heard of a Kies download but I have not been able to get it to work.

I am not on an exchange server, so that option doesn't work.

I got the CompanionLink software, and yes it DOES sync my stuff, but then none of it is in the regular contact location on the phone. In other words, Android has possibly just lost me as a customer because I must be able to sync (properly) with Outlook.

Does anyone have any other suggestions about this situation? I know that I am not the only person having this difficulty because I have seen it on the web. Thanks!

When you sync Outlook contacts and calendar to Android using CompanionLink, they initially only appear in our Dejaoffice app. There is an option within DejaOffice (under Settings > Sync Settings) that allows you to integrate contacts and calendar with the native Android contacts and calendar apps. I had problems with my vibrant that it can not sync my office emails. i tried everything i could and still it wont work. after getting froyo it still did not work. i tried my friends phones on different model and had the same issues. Finally turned out that my company had expired certificates and that was the issue. Once they fixed it, outlook sync was a breeze. I was cursing android, samsung and t-mobile for months about this issue. finally it turned out that these are all good guys. it was my company that was causing problems.

The best free app i have found that does this MyPhoneExplorer which you can download from here:

It syncs calendar and contacts, but not tasks (although I think it is under development)
In my opinion, here are the pros and cons
Pros: it's free and does a pretty decent job. The forum has proved quite useful, and the developers are responsive; you can sync wirelessly.
Cons: It does not sync outlook categories for calendar or contacts; recurring events (e.g. birthdays) sync a day early (i have no idea why); the main forum is in German, although there is an English section

i think it's worth giving a try...
