    Our friend Brandon from PocketNow somehow stumbled across some promotional materials Samsung will be using to highlight features of its new 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab expected to be announced here in Orlando tomorrow. (We’re secretly jealous because we were interrogated the moment we even looked at an unfinished booth.) Anywho, Samsung’s looking to be the first [...]

    Well, here's hoping they're more custom widgets and less ui customizations. If they're just special widgets I can live with that. Use them if they're effective, get rid of them if they're not. Let's hope Samsung's meddling isn't a deal breaker. But knowing Sammy, it probably will.

    Hopefully the skinning is minimal, but to be honest I don't care that much - it'll be replaced within minutes anyways. To be honest I'll take a Samsung-skinned UI with great media playback (particularly video), over stock with its pathetic codec support.

    It's official: minimal customization. Mostly widgets. I'm so close to sold on this thing!

    Samsung has a winner on it's hands with the 8.9, great pricing.

    In the video on engadget they scoot through Samsungs settings screen, and there's a option for call settings for voice calls;

    Has anybody seen any confirmation one way or the other as to whether the new Galaxy Tabs will be pure tablets, or have phone functions like the original??

    I really hope they have the functionality.

    Just seen a hands-on video from a Samsung rep. extolling the virtues of the SGT8.9, which included a very brief showing of the 'Phone' app.. ****ing awesome, almost certain to be the replacement for my iPad1 & HTC Hero :)
