Help Scratch on screen voids warranty?

Hi all... I've been lurking while waiting for my Incredible to come in the mail- it's finally here, yay!

I went to my local Verizon store in CT today to get a case for my phone. The sales assistant tried to push me into getting a screen protector too, but I'd rather buy them online so I declined. She kind of snootily replied that if I end up scratching the screen because I don't have a protector, it's considered physical damage and that voids the warranty on the phone.

Does this make any sense to you guys???

Sounds like bs to me. Unless the screen is why you are going in to get warranty work on it. Then they could say the screen doesnt work because you hit hard here where the scratch is. But if the phones speaker stops working they cant void your warranty because of screen scratching that occurs every day just sitting in peoples pockets.

Even if it was, why wouldn't they include a free one on purchase? Now you need insurance plus accessories to be fully covered? Money, she just wanted you to spend more when she was working with you, it looks good.

yeah, I with parri1|. I think she just meant that if you scratch it you can't being it back and request a repair or exchange for the scratch.

Personally I think you should have a screen protector. There are some great ones that you will never know they are there.

I think she exaggerated a bit.... I'm personally on team screen protector. I dropped DInc #1 like 2ft from the ground and the screen cracked.... I think if I didn't have a screen protector there would of been more screen damage.

I don't think thats right. I call bs. I personally don't find a need for a screen protector and find them a waste of money. these screen hold up quite well. not too mention I had a few scratches on my Eris, and I got that replaced without a problem.

Gotta remember they work for commission ;) When I went in and was debating between the high gloss silicone case and a hard case, I asked the guy helping me if had heard good or bad things about either. He was pretty much like uh, I dunno, but I like the look of that one. Pointed to the more expensive one of course lol.

No screen protection for me , just a holster. never had a problem with scratches.. I read somewhere we had a screen that was impervious to scratching, but I could be wrong...
