It slides out very easily and quickly. Even with the silicone HTC case. Don't knock it until you try it.
I want a video of you doing that, I don't believe u.

You mean like this?
this is a sad moment in my life. getting ready to back my Dro... on Twitpic
I don't get why people argue about this. If you dobt want one don't use it. But if you scratch it be prepared to live with it. Why not just be protected?
Maybe.
But your way requires lying and deceit. Not everyone wants to do that.
Oh, and if they get the phone and determine that the 3G is perfectly fine and think that you processed a false warranty claim, they CAN charge you for the refurbish phone. Sure it's not likely, but it could happen.
I just wanted to update everyone...the unthinkable happened!
I literally have a scratch deep enough to feel with my fingernail...I will post a picture later but this is driving me NUTS. I do not have warranty either since i got the phone on ebay. How sad
I am pretty sure there is no way to get the scratch out either!
Do you understand the number of phones they receive a day, all they do is get the phone, check the numbers and good to go.
I'm not advocating deceit and lying. just giving options. personally i dont think the screen should scratch from keys in a pocket, so ya i personally will get a refurb if the scratch is deep. and I do everything in my power not to scratch it, no keys in pocket, case, blah blah, its just an option most people dont know about so why not take advantage of something you are paying for......
Actually... yes you are advocating lying and deceit. You said that the person was stupid and should have lied and said that his 3G was broken when in fact the guy just damaged his own screen.
Sure, lying is AN option. But it's still lying. So please don't pretend it's not.
The fact is... you probably wouldn't get caught. But there is a CHANCE that you will. Even if it's a 1% chance, it's still a gamble you have to be willing to take. Cause IF they determine that the DINC is fine and notice the scratch and pick that one to investigate, all they gotta do is pull up the account that phone came from and let Verizon know that it has been determined that a false claim was filed. And BAM... you phone bill is higher that month.
And yes, I know this for a fact. A) I have several friends who work for Verizon (as well as one for Sprint) and B) My old boss tried it with his blackberry several years ago and was one of the unlucky ones to get caught. He paid full retail for the new phone.
The screen scratches really easy. Just look at this thread

http://androidforums.com/htc-incred...edible-pocket-scratches-screen-im-pissed.htmlI see everyone's point... the fact of the matter is this:
There is no evidence to suggest it's easily scratchable. Can anyone come up with a pic/vid?
No screen protector here either, basically because I don't like the way they look/feel. However, I have NEVER put my phone in my pocket... I have the Seidio springclip holster (the screen faces inward against a felt-covered piece of hard plastic), and unless I'm actually using the phone, it's in the holster.
Over the past 5 years, I've had the HTC PPC-6700, PPC-6800, Touch Pro, and now the Incredible. And the first thing I bought for each one was a Seidio holster. That's 5 years worth of scratch-free screens.
Of course, if you're actually holding the phone and drop it... I don't know how much a screen protector is going to help anyway.
