The screen brightness on my epic will jump from 0% to 75%. I have auto brightness off and the power control widget is not on any of my screens. Does anyone know what is causing this andhow I can fix it?

dragging across the notification bar in either direction will cause this change setting .. left dims it, right brightens it

Short of root and a custom ROM, I don't believe so.

If you have auto brightness enabled, dragging left right on the notification bar will not change it. If auto brightness is disabled, then burningembers is correct.

Just clarifying for future users :)

Simple fix: if your brightness is a tiny bit above 0%, it won't happen anymore.

Just tested it out on my own epic 4g. (Which I'm posting from now :) )
