I have been having an issue. I have deleted any new apps and have kept everything clean. From time to time, if I am on Facebook, google, an email or anything else my screen will lock up.it last just a few seconds. When it does, nothing I do will correct it.I can not swipe up or down, left or right. I cannot bring up the icons on the bottom or press the home key. I have performed several soft resets. Anyone else have this happen?

if you have "performed several resets" and it acts that way WITH NO APPS installed by you (this include restoring from backups), the your phone is faulty and should be serviced.

you mentioned facebook. i read a lot of random issues that come from facebook app. perhaps uninstall that and re-test...

i know I know.. its facebook.. i think you can survive for a day without the app.. :)

remove any screen protectors, cases, uninstall any apps that remap the bixby button (if you have such a thing installed).

You mean soft or hard reset? Press and hold the volume down key and on/off key simultaneously until the phone powers off. Allow the phone to powback on by itself. This is a hard or battery pull reset.

There are thousands of reports from users that the Note 8 is freezing up. It does not seem to be traceable to a single carrier or app. Samsung is not going to willingly come out and say 'yeah, we screwed up again and released a phone with a serious problem'... After the Note 7, they would be run out of the cell phone business.

I'm really hoping that this is a firmware issue that can be resolved via OTA update. If they're fast about finding the problem and developing a solution, they could send it out with the Android 8.0 update.

I have noticed this a few times, but not many. I have tried to pay attention to what was going on when this happens and, in my case, it seems to occur when handing off from WiFi to cellular. Once the phone "decides" which service to use, it seems to rectify itself. It hasn't happened many times, but seems to be the culprit in my case.

My first Note 8 lost its audio after an OTA. I was able to get a replacement. The replacement freezes sporadically and I can' pinpoint the cause.

Mine has done this a few times. Every time I was on Chrome and couldn't move. It was hard stuck! Not just for a few seconds either. Just stuck. I had to hold down the volume and on/off to reboot to get out of it. I hope they find the problem soon and send an update to fix.
BTW, I am only going to my usual websites, not browsing around randomly when it happens. And I haven't installed any new apps in months. Just the latest Samsung update which is when this all began.

I noticed it happening after I used the Samsung-Browser a few times. I will monitor this and see. If it is the culprit, I will disable the two browsers and see what happns

Since posting to this thread, mine hasn't locked up. I believe the November Security Update came out shortly after this. Maybe that rectified my issue?

I have had 3 freezes since owning the note 8. All 3 of them have been associated with charging and allowing the phone to be hooked up to the charger past 100%, you know, charging it overnight with a fast charger. I have had to do a hard reset on my phone all 3 times. Since the last update about a week ago, it has not happened. My fingers are crossed too

keep the note 8 on a wireless charger all day/night if im not using it. never had it freeze/lock up. this is a first run production copy. leaving it on a charger doesn't necessarily mean this is a bad thing or it will do harm to the device.

Nope: the past week I've probably experienced three or four freezes. The screen becomes completely unresponsive. I have to hard press the Home button to get back to the home screen and then it seems to be fine. Now Samsung is facing the 0% battery crisis with the Note 8 - this is NOT news that any of us want to deal with.

I for one am hoping it won't come to that. I'd like to keep my phone for more than a few months this time!

No problems here. Sounds like a hardware issue you guys are having. Possibly the processor.

I have not had mine replaced and have not had any problems since the last update. I am hoping that corrected the problem.

With the Oreo update expected with the January security patch, I'm optimistic that this little issue will be solved once and for all...

Gf's device has been freezing too, started on Christmas day and has done it about 3-4 times since. Subbing to thread, hope it gets fixed soon!
