I tested this yesterday at the pool during our break period. It was a super sunny day and there were no clouds around. I had it on the lowest brightness and with sunglasses it was kind of hard to read but doable. I put it on a mid level and with sunglasses it did fine. I had it up to the brightest and I didn't need it that high personally.

I had a Samsung Intercept before that and even on the highest it was poor in sunlight, so I understand the concern.

No problem at all with the unit in the car dock on sunny days; my setting is on automatic for brightness. This capability is huge for me; with my travel, being able to see in a bright car is a must. My old TP2 was better than others in this regard but nothing like this one.

I put it next to my wife's Epic in the sun and there is no comparison. Hands down its better. I can read the screen in the sun and with my polarized sun glasses. The best phone display I have seen.

98 degrees out with no clouds and I can see my screen really good. Better then anything I have ever had before. :D

After trying an evo3d in bright light (which was unreadable); I was amazed at how well the photon did (esp on auto brightness which seemed brighter than max setting). Kudos to the sprint representative that let me take one outside (I'm watiing for the sg2 before making a decision).

Visibility in bright lighting conditions is one of the advantages of the infamous PenTile screen, and it's one of the most important things to me, as well. So, I'm extremely pleased with how visible the screen is in the direct SoCal sun (and I mean, at noon on a typical cloudless day just outside of LA).

Yes compared to the EPIC that I used, this is awesome phone to use in the Sun light. Even with my sunglasses on the display is clear what ever the level the brightness may be.

Got to try out the P4G in bright, direct summer sunshine today. Using Auto-Adjust Brightness, turned on the phone, it shifted, and it was bright and clear!

I spend a lot of time in a fishing boat on the weekend. My EVO was unreadable. The Photon in unbelieveable. This feature alone will make me keep this phone for a long, long time.

Ditto this, except I don't fish.
