I have a full body Xtreme Guard on mine. I do plan on getting a case too. I have found that without the full body skin in between the phone and the case, dirt or sand gets in your case somehow and scratches up your nice new phone. The only downside is you have to get a softer case that can accomodate the added millimeters from the full body skin.
Is a screen protection filmed needed with the S3? And if it is a good idea any suggestions on which (note I am in the UAE not the States). I have limited experience with them (used to put on my ipod Touch and it really felt like I degraded it as I could never seem to get it on perfectly and always had some bubbles etc. visible. Also felt dull when scrolling etc.) Thanks Neil
not. 1 of the biggest scandals in the mobile market, hands down. if youre scratching gorilla glass...you MAY want to rethink how you carry your device.
Thanks for the quick responses... I also have a case that covers the whole phone when not in use. That seems to make sense to me to do. But these plastic films not so much.
One of the first things that I do when I buy ANY phone is head to HiPhone (Available in all the malls in the UAE) and let them install the screen protector for me, they are professionals at doing this and they are much cheaper compared to other stores. I dont like having a single scratch on my screen. Make sure if you decide to buy a screen protector, get the CLEAR one, NOT the Anti-Glare or the Privacy Anti-Glare = crappy as it makes any white background such as Google webpage for example look like small tiny rainbowish dots Privacy = makes your screen dull and one might as well just buy a cheap low end phone if he is going to put that crap on To the above comments from others, while you say it is hard to scratch a Gorilla Glass Screen, perfectly makes sense, but also, I am thinking, why NOT put a screen protector and have htat extra bit of protection so if you ever decide to sell the phone it is in scratchless condition? Does the screen protector degrade the performance of the touch sensitivity by any chance? I've always had a BlackBerry phone so I never really used touch on my screens that's why I am asking. I have a screen protector on my current Bold 9900 but I never ver used the touch on it because RIM simply doesn't know how to make a touch screen the thing is so inaccurate
I have a screen protector on mine. I toasted the zagg on install so I ordered the xtreme guard ones off ebay. Other than having to cut out the protector for the proximity sensor it went on fine. Any air bubbles disappeared overnight. It does feel different, more grippy if anything, and the touch screen did take some getting used to again as it felt different. Overall I quite like it, we will see if I stay with it or not once the ballistic case and the otterbox I ordered come in.
I have the Spigen Steinheil Ultra Nano series screen protector. I love it - you can't even tell it's on it's so clear. Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen Protector Steinheil Ultra Nano Series - GALAXY S3 - Samsung - Cell Phones
I wish the Steinhiel ultra glass would stop being delayed. That is one I am waiting for has anyone seen a review on it? Is it going to be worth it? I noticed the Flex HD is more more money than the crystal. Anyone have the FLEX HD?
I you golf, go to the beach, or just near dirt a lot get a screen protector. Mine was naked until yesterday I got some sand in my pocket from a Sandtrap my screen now has scratches. Going to Verizon getting a new one, and getting a cheap protector until I find a good one.
The guys at HiPhone which is available in all malls in Dubai (they are a small Stand just ask the information desk for their location when you reach the mall) can install the screen protector within 5 minutes with 0 bubbles! If there are bubbles ask them to put another one for free. They are highly skilled and use scotch tape to remove any small bits of sand or dirt to ensure a bubble free screen you wouldn't even notice you have a screen protector MY Bold 9900 today after 1 year is still in brand new condition thanks to the screen protector which only costed me $5 USD from hiphone :d
Screen protectors weren't needed on the original gorilla glass but I've found this supposedly improved gorilla glass 2 scratches pretty easily. I like the hard plastic ones that Verizon installs.
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/560562-screen-protector-discussion.html Already a thread here for S3 screen protector discussion. Threads were merged. Thank You.
I was having other issues as well. The motion features did not always work and the 4G was intermittent. The screen scratching was the final motivation. Sorry if that offends anyone but that was the final straw. My new screen already has a scratch in it and I have no idea what it touched. these new screens do suck!!!
Has anyone tried the Spigen Curved Crystal yet?? If you have, can you please post reviews? I want to buy it for my S3. Thanks in advance!
Maybe we should stick with Gorilla Glass 1 rather than GG2. I'd happily trade an extra 1/4 ounce or whatever it is in weight to have a bulletproof screen.
Guys, there are a lot of suggestions on this thread. Does anyone have a recommendation on a decent screen that is clear, as slick as possible (so that it doesn't interfere with when I try to type with Swype) and NOT expensive? Like, somewhere in the $3-$4 range for 2-3 screen protectors? I'm not paying $15+ for one screen protector.
There's really no point in putting a protective screen on this phone, a case? Yes. It's protected by gorilla glass so you really can't scratch it, not saying it won't ever break but it would have to take quite a hit..
yeah, the one that came with the phone. trimmed off the area that covered the LED and the front camera and it works like a charm! doesn't lift or anything.
