I received my Nexus 7 screen protectors yesterday and attempted to put one on. I have put them on several phones with no issues, so I assumed all would go well. Boy was I wrong. The first time I removed the Step 1 cover, I dropped the cover, getting dust all over the adhesive side. Oh well, on to protector #2. I succeeded in getting it onto the Nexus, centered quite well, but there were a ot of bubbles under it. I couldn't squeegee them out. It seems like the fact that the protector is adhesive makes it impossible, at least for me, to get the bubbles out. I think the phone protectors may only be held on by static/surface tension, so it is easier to squeegee the bubbles out. Has anyone been successful at getting a protector on their Nexus 7 with no bubbles? If so how, and what brand? TIA.

I don't have one on my nexus 7, but I used the XO skin on my galaxy nexus and it has been great. It uses a wet installation process which helps with the bubbles and whatnot. Quick question... why do you need a protector on the 7. It doesn't go in pockets and the display is pretty tough already. I'd just get a nice case that can double as a stand.

I've never used a screen protector on any phone or tablet for almost 4 years and never had a scratch on any of the four devices. I really don't think they are useful. Screen protectors cost money, can be difficult to apply, reduce your screen clarity, can cover/interfere with sensors if not perfectly installed, and have to be replaced due to scratches and smudges that wouldn't have happened on the tough glass screens. Since the OP asked about how and which brand, others may be able to address his concerns, but I'd still say, forget screen protectors.

Thanks for these replies. I've been going back and forth about putting the protector on. I don't use them on my phone anymore, but that's samll enough to put places that it won't get scrathced. It just seems to me tha tthe larger screen would be easier to scratch. I'm not a fan of bulky cases, so I was planning on using a TPU case and screen protector. I might skip the protector, dunno.

I agree. I go bareback also. Never have scratched a screen. Todays screens are very tough and scratch proof. I have the Poetic cover that's great to travel with that DOES NOT restrict the power/volume buttons.

I just have a zippered pouch/sleeve to put mine in. No protector, cuz that's the only place my nexus will be stored, although I might consider a nice case with smart cover someday.

My iPod Touch has a screen protector on it, but that's because I only want a thin back case on it, and it goes in my purse with other things like my car keys, pens, and cosmetics that could eventually scratch it.

+1 on no screen protector, though the screen is quite glossy so does pick up greasy finger marks.

Waiting for rumored case and dock before purchasing any further accessories!

Mine will be used by my 5 year old, and 3 year old, and probably grabbed more than once by my 18mo old. If I didn't protect it, it WOULD get scratched, they would find a way. But they aren't arriving until tomorrow, so for now its just limited, supervised exposure for the kids. (I got skinomi, just to try, they have good reviews on Amazon.)

I've got my Nexus in a great slim-fit cover by BrilloTech, sold at Amazon. Very soft padded inside & fits snug. Don't see any advangage as to having a screen protector yet.
