So does anyone know what kind of glass the XOOM has?

Is anyone going to put a screen protector on theirs?

Probably not. I don't use a tab like a cell phone, i.e. it wont fit in my jeans!

No protection for me. With the gorilla glass and the fact that I intend to have a casse for this (the sweet portfolio one) - I think I'm safe.

I'm actually considering taking the protector off my phone. Keeps acting up on my phone with phantom touches.

What about fingerprints tho... my incredible before the screen protector was miserable with fingerprints, now it's still got finger prints even with the protector, but at least it's easier to clean and not as bad.

My iPod touch used to have a screen protector on it. Drove me nuts. I took it off. Yes - it gets finger prints on it. I wipe them off in seconds if I even notice them. honestly, it does not bother me. Maybe will on a 10.1 inch screen but I am not intending to start out with a screen protector.

So, no protection for me. I like the natural look and feel much better.

Er, were still talking about screen protectors.... right? yeah, yeah, right.

Bad news in regards to the Verizon Xoom screen protector...
I was told last night by a manager that the VZ screen protector only covers the actual backlit area....and it does NOT cover the surrounding borders on the front as well.
Yeah, just like the VZ Droid X screen protectors...
    GARBAGE!

If I ever slap one on, it will be Steinheil or Boxwave etc.
(Total screen/gorilla glass covered and superior clarity of film)

Gorilla Glass will be fine, almost useless to get a protector.

Anybody know if there's a sock type protector available, like a soft fabric type cover to slip the Xoom in?

Amazon is offering the Skinomi branded protector for the Xoom for about $19 here:

Amazon.com - Skinomi Screen Protector - Motorola Xoom

But I will be waiting for the Realook screen protector as that is what I use for my SF Fascinate and fingerprints are a thing of the past. For now I will suffer through the "forensics lab heaven" of my Xoom screen.

As far as sleves go Saddle Back Leather makes some awesome sleeves. Gadget pouches - Leather Cases for Cameras, Documents & More : Saddleback Leather Company I have one for my droid and love it. I got the portfolio case from Verizon though I am still thinking of grabing a saddle back sleeve. I have a bag and a wallet from them. Their quality is second to none. It looks like they just added a case/stand similar to the portfolio case. It looks pretty slick, though I am not sure if the demensions are close enough for the xoom to fit in it.

I have no idea how but I already have a small scratch on my tablet. Gorilla Glass can scratch I guess.

My Droid X got two small scratches and I put Steinheil on it. Will do the same with the xoom when they make one.

Best way to go is Steinhill. Best in the biz. Crystal Clear and you never know its on if you put it on right.

Personnaly I really like my spartphonexperts screen protector on my EVO 4G...nice surface and wipes clean real easy. No word on a xoom version yet tho. Someone needs to make an anti-glare/privacy screen for it.

I'm apprehensive about getting a surface this large installed bubble and dust free. I may have to enlist a local with access to a clean room, OR bag the idea of a screen protector. I also vote for Steinheil. They are the best.

I've had pretty good luck applying my bestskinsever in the bathroom after running the hot water for 5 or 10 minutes. The steam does a great job getting the dust out of the air. I wish they made a screen protector for the xoom, but since it's not out yet I went with a skinomi...hopefully that will apply fairly easily too.

I must say that I was totally against even the idea of a screen protector before I got my Xoom. Now that I've owned it for a few weeks I think I need one. Not so much because I'm worried about scratches (I paid the full unsubsidized price, this thing gets handled with gloves on) but I have found that the fingerprints, while easy to remove, build up quickly. I have no problem wiping down the glass but every ten or fifteen minutes of websurfing I find myself locking the screen and wiping it down! That's just way too much, my ass hasn't been wiped as many times as I've wiped this screen. The other issue is the glare! I can't believe how shiny this thing is! I can seriously trim nose hairs in front of my Xoom! While it looks amazing indoors in the evening, when I try to use it in any form of daylight or at anytime outside I have to jack the brightness all the way up just to compete with the ambient light! That's why I finally ordered the: BoxWave Motorola XOOM ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector $19.95
from Amazon (and a gel case for I think like 9 bucks). Wish I still had my portfolio reciept cause that was a waste of money! Hopefully these will do what they say and keep me safe and glare/fingerpring free (or at least heavily reduce the amounts of each) for a while to come. Now if we can just get flash, google voice and, any kind of texting app it would seriously be perfect!
