Has anyone bought a screen protector for their G1? I still have the one that came with the phone, but the air bubbles and scratches are annoying me, plus I'm not too confident in it. My friend has a screen protector for his BlackBerry Bold, and it was very thick and now I want something similar for my G1. I don't want an invisibleSHEILD, however. I read the review that N3TWORK BURN3R wrote, and I don't think I could deal with the resistance he talks about. Plus, I just need something for the screen, as I'm getting a case as well. Can anyone recommend me a good one? Thanks, Gerard
I'm somewhat curious about this as well. I still have my original protector on as well, and I'm wondering about the screen durability itself without any protector. I know enough iPhone people who don't use any protector and I'm considering doing the same. I'm not that hard on my phone and and I wonder if my G1 screen would survive simple everyday use, being in my pocket, etc.
I'm using the Power Support anti-glare film designed for the iPhone. I cut it down to fit the G1's screen. It comes in a "crystal" (smooth) design, too. I like the roughish texture of the anti-glare version because it doesn't smudge or show fingerprints. They're $14.95 for 2 and one lasted me more than a year on my iPhone. I also have that Body Glove, black rubberized case they sell at T-Mo. It's very bulky, but would definitely protect your device from a drop.
I bought a package on ebay that came with two batterys, a charger that charges the battery and the phone at the same time, a screen protector that fits the screen exactly, and a data cable. With shipping the total was $21.00. I pulled off the original screen plastic and put on the new screen protector and I think the screen responded slightly better. I can't say how the screen responds with nothing on it. I'm not sure who the ebay dealer was something like omchina but they were fast on shipping and a really good deal, however the "data cable" only works for charging the phone, but still the best 20 bucks i've spent in a while.
i took my off as soon as i got it it got sctrached and was ugly i have gone about a month with out onne no marks yet exect my gressy finger prints
I use WriteRights that are made for the iPhone. Used the sheet that came on the phone to protect it in shipping as a template. If you're careful, there are no bubbles, and it feels the same as the glass screen. So far, they're seeming to last a long time on both my phone and my girlfriend's. (Yes, it's nice to have a techno-babe who also has a G1.)
