Is there really a difference between protectors. such as self adhesive or multi layer. What is everyone on here using?? I know to make sure they are made specifically for the phone but is there really a difference??

I just got the Zagg screen protector which is for the Optimus S (I was told was a match for the Optimus V) and it seems that the shield is about 1/8" undersized all the way around. Is this normal??? You'd think that they would make it COMPLETELY cover the screen.

The Zagg protector was designed for the S, so yes it's a bit small.

I'm one of those mentioned who dislikes it.
The extra grip makes it harder to swype. I also think it loses sensitivity.

I do like how it self heals, but more than once I have nearly ripped it off in frustration.

I like the Zagg though at first I hated it. Very tough and all the bubbles disappeared. They ought to have a sample available so people can see if they like the feel, though it is not slick like the other protectors I have seen.

I had one generic one (Fellowes I think) and hated it. I currently don't use one and have not had any problems. I keep the phone in my front pocket by itself (no keys or coins).

Does anyone know the best technique to remove and reapply the zagg? I have a ton of micro bubbles and they haven't gone away after 4 days in my pocket.

I had one for the droid and when I removed it and reapplied it was a disaster. There was a fingerprint I couldn't get rid of and even more bubbles. I don't wan't to spray the solution on the phone but I think I will have to to get the screen off without disfiguring it.

I use the Clarivue for Optimus S on my V.
I've also tried the Zagg, and the Phantomskinz.
IMO, the Clarivue is the best out there!

I got these cheap ones from Amazon in a pack of 5. They work fine for me. I had a little trouble getting the dust off for the first one and had some bubbles, but for the price, I didn't feel bad about tossing it and using another one.

I did manage to get a minor scratch on mine before I ordered the screen protector (I threw it in my gym bag one night -- probably got pushed up against my car keys or something). Seems worth the minor hassle to protect the screen.

I got a screen protector in an inexpensive eBay pack of [IMG]case + 2 chargers + protector (thanks, TVCCS, for originally providing the link to that). Using the video in the link above provided by guyd, I was able to put this protector on perfectly. Given my older, dryer, hands, I'd say I have less capacitance than most people. Even so, the results have been perfection! I don't experience any difference in feel from the bare screen. There was even a cutout for the proximity sensor.

I've tried regular screen protectors on touch screens before, but among about 30 applications, I always got bubbles. I figured that was inevitable. But not this time, thanks to the video instructions. Use the video linked above, putting it on sideways, instead of top to bottom in portrait. Also, this inexpensive screen protector has front and back pull-off disposable plastic, with tabs, like in the video, which helps immensely to keep you from touching the screen protector at any time during installation. This eBay seller sells them alone without the hard case or chargers. The Clarivue protector linked above is probably just as good, and maybe all modern ones are too.

I've applied Zaggs and similar (from Case-Mate), and can apply that type of wet-applied screen protector perfectly. But it added friction to the one capacitive touchscreen that I've applied it to, a Zune HD. That friction seems to be the cause of impaired responsiveness on the Zune. I bought a two-pack of these wet-applied full body protectors for the Optimus, but I'm glad I didn't try them.
  14. Does anyone have a template of the screen that I can print out and cut out that is the exact size of the entire screen? I threw out the little plastic thing that came with the phone, so cutting my own protector out of a larger sheet, with the curved edges and stuff has been hit or miss. Two tries so far and it's good enough, but would love to just print something out, cut it out of paper, then put that over a screen sheet and cut the protector from that.

I messaged ZAGG about the scratched screen protector that was also miss-cut much smaller than it should have been. ZAGG wants me to mail them the defective screen protector package (on my dime), then they want me to register the thing and put a credit card on file on their web site. After that, they will send me a replacement using money from the card I put on file to pay for shipping and handling. WTF ZAGG?? Its a $15 screen protector, not a goddamned phone! I really don't trust companies who act shady like this. I'm most likely am just gonna toss it out (bought it for $5 anyway on a special deal at RadioShack) and just buy a screen protector from some other company.

I had a Zagg protection on mine and thought I could get use to the grip feeling but I just couldn't stand it anymore, or the fact it takes away from the glossy look of the screen if you don't have it on, and your finger just glides much better across the screen without the protection, and I noticed the edges were attracting dust. Get a diamond plastic case, bought mine on ebay, they are very nice and its not the silicone rubber case that attracts dirt or the hard plastic case, its a tough shiny plastic, also I keep my phone in a black suede cell phone sleeve when its in my pocket or a bag, therefore I don't need a screen protector and I don't typically walk around wavng my phone around for it to be at risk of being dropped on the ground.

Got a set 2 off of Amazon, Mybat brand I think. Pretty darn decent for only paying $2. Totally worth it.

Lousy way to treat a customer. Look at what happened - you are telling everyone what a bad experience you had. Had they just shipped you a new one at their cost, you'd be bragging what a great experience you had. Just dumb.

I ordered one off Amazon from Skinomi. It was for the Optimus S and it did leave a slight bit of screen uncovered on the bottom when the top portion is lined up but that was not a problem. It gave the screen more of a "rubbery" feel but the tapping and swiping was not affected very much. Looks very nice and has lifetime replacements and was about $10. Scratches are supposed to heal themselves but we'll see.

I have seen only one brand that has the cutout for the proximity sensor. Is this even needed, anyone notice any difference after applying the protector?

I just ordered my Optimus V today and I would like something to put on the phone as soon as it is out of the box.

Mine doesn't have a cutout, and the proximity sensor still works perfectly. I've been very happy with these protectors I'm using. Really like the matte finish.

Just do yourself a favor and buy the 5-pack from Amazon for $1. They work perfectly, and if you screw up the installation you have 4 more tries.

I have these and they work great, easy install. There about a 1MM to small all the way around but if you center it well its not a problem, I dont see how your gonna get any scratches in that small of an area. For a buck they cant be beat.
