Help Screen Rotate Problem

Hi from the UK, John here, my problem is; i have a HTC Desire and for 3 months its been going great, but today for some reason it has decided to rotate automatically to landscape (if you get me),

When im on the menu page when i switch on, if i press say for instance, Facebook or Messages it automatically flips to landscape so i have to turn the phone around to veiw pages, yes i have tried switching on and off, i have even tried to switch off the auto screen rotate icon and the tick goes off, but it still in landscape view, any ideas guys

I may have to do some guessing here. Is it all apps, or just some?

Have you tried calibrating the G sensor (see http://androidforums.com/desire-sup...7-htc-desire-auto-rotation.html#post1673976)?

An old favourite for odd behaviour is to just pull out the battery, leave it out for a couple of minutes, then reboot.

Had you installed or changed anything recently before this started?

A factory reset is always there if nothing else works, but that will erase all apps and data (including contacts etc), so keep that in reserve until other options have run out, and back up everything you can first if it does come to that.
