So, recently i bought an S5, what i've noticed is that there is a screen shot of some type stuck in the screen/background on the phone everywhere.

By everywhere i mean, on the lock screen, home screen, facebook, snapchat. EVERYWHERE.

The Image is from what i can tell aN image of facebook with the keyboard open. (image attached.) As you may understand, this is driving me crazy!

    My Android version is 6.0.1

Can anyone help me? I'm going nuts!

    Cheers

    it is just a Wallpaper.....

    not to worry,

long press the screen and select Wallpapers.... then find a picture you like and use that.

I much prefer to have a Solid Black background as it makes all the icons sooo much easier to identify.

So, I cover the lens on the camera and take a 'black' picture.
then doing what I just said above, I select that black picture as my new Wallpaper....
presto, it appears on every homepage screen.... betcha it will for you too.

It's not the wallpaper, I've changed the wallpaper in an attempt to fix it. The image is behind every single page / app I go on. The image that is static behind everything i go on seems to be a screenshot of the keyboard on facebook.

Images i screen shot don't seem to show it unless it's my pc screen which is dodgy.

The image you're trying to show is a Facebook URL, it might not allow deep linking of content. Try attaching it to your post, or put it on Imgur or Photobucket instead.

Managed to see the Imgur image you posted from my Mac. Looks OK. Screen-burn won't show in a screen-shot from the phone itself, you actually have to take a photo of it with another camera.

Samsung Galaxy S5 does have an AMOLED screen. If it is a burned AMOLED, replacement screen required, no other fix. For Samsung to replace it, about $250-300 bucks. Ifixit.com should have info on what's required.

Is this phone an ex-demo, and possibly been on display in a showroom for a long time, screen continuously on at full brightness 24/7, showing the same home-screen, with all the icons, like FB, Snapchat, etc. I've seen demo Samsungs that are screen-burned like that in showrooms.

Yes , S5 I'm not too sure on it's previous use, most likely as you suggested.

I spotted an app that claims to equalize all pixels by rotating a slideshow of RGB & white. Do you think ii might work?

I have the ability to replace the screen myself just don't want to spend too much more money.

Those are supposedly for fixing dead pixels on LCD, but personally I think they're just snake-oil. Like you can't fix a broken light bulb with just software alone.

All AMOLEDs will burn eventually and will go darker, but if it's done evenly as possible, you might not notice it. What causes the ghost image you see, is uneven burn caused by a bright static image for a long time, the home screen icons, notification bar, etc. That's why I'm thinking it might have been in a showroom. Or someone has left it showing the home-screen continuously for extended periods.

Plasma and CRT TVs can burn-in in the same way, and the only repair is new screens.

To replace the screen, this is what's required....

Thank you for the amazing reply, Mike!

I've read up on these equalizers and the reviews do seem quite promising, I guess i'll give this a go before i buy a replacement screen :D It's sooo hard to imagine somebody being on facebook for that long of a time to cause this, it's mind boggling.

That link is perfect for when and if i do decide to repair it :)

Cheers for all the support guys!
