I am looking for a widget that will put the screen to sleep like the power button does, but a widget on the screen lol.

I know it sounds stupid, but when the phone is in the cradle in my car, it would be much easier to tap a widget on the screen to turn screen off than push down on the power button. I have a lock program that allows me to use the trackpad to wake the screen up, but have not found one to put the inc to sleep.

    Any help?

Could you share the name of this app? I asked for it in this post, but never saw a reply.

I am using Launcherpro and a widget called "screen mode widget lite". Tap it to lock, tap again to disable lock, and a third time to keep screen on. With this I am also able to use trackpad to wake screen up.

Yes, I came looking for the same widget. Touch screens are a pain when you try putting the phone away and the screen is active. With the Cliq you have to push a tiny button awkwardly placed on the side (power button) to put the screen to sleep. A touch widget would be much easier.

Googled and found this older thread.

Anyone found a widget or app that does mimic the hard screen off/lock/sleep button? Am using a Samsung Epic and would love a screen button to use instead of the somewhat difficult to use hard button on the side.

    :-(
