Here's another very annoying thing happening with this phone: I go to make a call. After disconnecting the phone screen grays out (not entirely blank) and then sleeps, even though I have sleep set up for the maximum time - 10 minutes. I talked to VZW and the rep duplicated the problem on both her Thunderbolt and a Nexus. She believes its a sensor in the phone that wants to be touched (side of your face for example) and if it doesn't have it, puts the phone to sleep. This is ridiculous if you use speaker phone at all. You shouldn't have to touch the screen as you disconnect to keep it awake. I haven't tried this with bluetooth yet - will later - but guess it won't be a problem is you're connected to a headset.
