    hi folks

I have a Samsung galaxy S2 and i have been facing a problem for the past 2 days. When idle & locked the screen would turn on and off on its own. it will keep repeating itself randomly. sometimes its once and then hours long wait and sometimes it just goes on and on.

i have tried removing the battery and inserting back in but no effect. I have also been going through different forums and people suggesting a rouge application that wakes it but i havent installed anything since last one week.

and even if its an application how do i locate it. I have already been through task manager and nothings running.

    Help:thinking:

ok somehow my phone got fixed and there could be the following reasons that worked.

1- I deleted all the apps downloaded/installed over the past one week.
2- My wife dropped the phone. Not damaged though because its in thick casing. And she dropped it on the carpet.

So i am not really sure which one of the above worked but my phone's been behaving ever since.

Do you have a weather widget on one of your homescreens?
some (such as fancy widgets) have an "awake on refresh" type of option. Make sure this is not ticked.

i did have one, that came preinstalled. I unchecked 2 options "Enable current location which allows the widget to find my current location" & auto scrolling as well. Hope this fixes it

I'm having the same problem...plus it seems to be killing my battery. It even flashes when it's turned off and plugged into charge. I have 100% battery and an hour later it's down to 50%. Im over seas and won't be home for a month...Im planning on turning it in for a replacement!

but there's got to be a solution.. seems like its a manufacturing problem... Yes the flashing doesnt bother me much but its the battery that creates an issue

my SGS2 was also showing such a thing. the screen would turn on its own and then turn off randomly. but right now for the past couple of days its behaving well.
I was using fancy widget at that time and had deleted it. not sure though whether that was the cause exactly.

I had the very same problem with my Galaxy S2.
In my case, the problem was solved after I had deleted two strange files in " My files" one of them was even called "error.---" (cannot remember the file extension and the name of the other file).
    Hope this will help!

I have similar problem (Samsung Galaxy Nexus). Whenever the phone isn't charging the display goes on (until power save turns it off).

Deinstalling apps randomly seems like a hell.

Is there no easy way to:

    * Log which app that turns the screen on?
    * Identify recently updated apps (to deinstall only them)?
    * List all installed apps with this right to light the screen?
