    Hey guys,

I am a Droid 2 owner currently waiting for the Gingerbread 4.5.888 (?) OTA update and was wondering if any of you lucky Droid X owners who received it could take some screenshots of what the new keyboard looks like and what some of the new things look like...is it the same as the last leaked build..if so, could you link to some screenshots?

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

OK...I'd rather embed the pics full size into the post but this will work for now.

    1. Its not really an OTA...

    2. Who said the keyboard would change?

some things that changed between the two leaks are different 3G icons...in the text message app the Blue color is a lighter shade of blue..those are two things i noticed right away...

is trhere anything in particular you would like to see shots of??

Ok I apologize if I am misinformed. I was just looking at the android.com official website and I remember seeing Gingerbread as having a little nicer of a keyboard..for example..being able to hold in the letters for a second to get to the number you want instead of having to press a seperate button..also, I thought they redesigned the keys to make them a little wider..just a tad...please let me know if I am misinformed and if that is a different phone only. Here are the screenshots of the keyboard that I am referring to:

The keyboard you are referring to comes with stock Gingerbread. The Droid X version of Gingerbread looks and feels alot different than stock Gingerbread. The keyboard in Moto's version of gingerbread is still their own multitouch keyboard. It is updated with the number keys on the main keyboard where you can press and hold the letter to get the number without switching screens.

Oh Ok..that makes sense...what then, overall, are the big advantages Gingerbread has over Froyo or any other version of Android?

Do you mind taking a screenshot of the text messaging app, with the different color blue and stuff?

Garbage collection is a programmer's term basically meaning to use memory correctly during execution. While touted in the vid as beneficial for games, this can impact any number of apps with lots of actions that will allocate and then free memory dynamically - while it runs. Web browsers are an example.
