There would seem to be a bug of some sort where many users are seeing a repeating notification about the SD card in the pull down menu. Even if you swipe it away, it comes back randomly even if you choose unmount. Seems to happen on various carriers, various brand SD cards and somewhat randomly. No proper fix has been found. A few threads over at XDA so far. The cards work fine but the pull down notifications persist no matter what so far. Some think it is a defective tray, some think hardware, some think software. One thing is isn't is the SD card itself. Turning off notifications doesn't seem to help at all. Again, it pops up randomly even if you unmount the card.

If anyone here has this issue, please file a case at Samsung so we might sometime see a fix. thx.

Yea I'm seeing this for sure. It's very random too. I sent Samsung a note about it.

Mine is also randomly reading the card then not.
This is a problem for music and photos/videos stored on card.
I waited for Samsung to release a phone with expandable memory..... But I've now had to move all onto the phone memory... Now running out of room!!

I only see the notification on a restart, swipe it away, it doesn't come back until the next restart.

What SD cards is everyone using that are not seeing this issue and what cards are being used with those seeing it?
    I'm seeing it with a Samsung Evo+ 64 gb.

Same... 6.0.1. I just got my sd card right before I got my phone. My wifes sd card will be here tomorrow so I'll see if her s7 starts doing the same thing.

I had the same issue, i had other problems too so i did a factory reset, no more issues, i also had apps installed on the card which seemed to cause all kinds of issues, no more apps on the card either...

^ you might be onto something there, i had an issue on my S5 where GSAM wouldn't start on bootup, that was because some of its settings were on the SD card. I decided to move all the GSAM stuff and any other apps that were on the SD card back to the internal storage before i got the S7 edge.

    Good point tommybayshore.

    I have an S7, MM 6.0.1, using a SanDisk 32gb Extreme.

It was in my S5 and not formatted before I put it into the S7. I'd rather not format my card nor factory reset my phone, but if it work....

I only have images, videos and music on my card.

I only see it upon startup, and it doesn't come back after I swipe it away.

I have a S7 edge, MM 6.01, using SanDisk 200gb (the one that is on sale for $79.99).

I have images, videos, music, documents, and also two apps moved over (Clash of Clans and Steam).

I exchanged my Evo 64 bit at Best Buy and it didn't help at all. I would try another if I had one, but I don't want to master reset for nothing unless that was the official fix for sure. I'm tempted to exchange my phone entirely, but again that means a setup from scratch again and no sure cure. I wish Verizon offered a 64gb version of the edge. Then I would ditch the stupid card altogether. I really hate that we can't get to the real source of this issue.

edit: just popped a Sandisk Extreme Plus card in. I'll see what that does....
    (ugg.. no change at all)

Tried more tape and I was hopeful, but the next morning and re-mounted again. Very discouraged. No guarantee a replacement would be any different. I've heard of lots of cases like mine on the other android forums as well.

Thought I'd give an update on this. So far today not one single issue on my phone. Very weird.
My wife got her sd card (same as me Evo+) and I formatted it first once in the phone which I didn't do with mine. So far she hasn't see the notification at all.

    That's even stranger.

Only on restart, here too. Could it be linked to apps, relocated to the card, that are involved in the start up process?

It is clearly a hardware issue. The restart pop up is not the problem. The card is coming unmounted and then quickly remounted at random times mostly when the screen is asleep. I really think it is a contact problem. If it only pops up at reboot, consider yourself lucky and enjoy.

I did notice that the sim card tray seemed a bit flimsy and hit n miss as to getting the SD Card nicely lined up with it (especially vertically) and then inserted smoothly into the phone. Maybe some of them like you say just aren't lining the card up with contacts inside the phone properly.

Mine is in snug so that isn't the issue. Of course as I mentioned in my last post I haven't seen the same issue again so who knows what it was. T-Mobile pushed an update this morning (just security though) and still haven't seen it since other then the reboot.
Now that I think of it I was having an issue the other day where my fingerprint unlock wasnt working right. Found out it was the screen off and lock app causing the issue. I removed it and things worked and that's when the sd card issue stopped as well. The app wasnt on the sd card at all, but somehow I think at least in my case that was the issue for me.

I use a screen off and lock app :)

Sung isn't the issue. The tray is bowed and the area holding the sd card is iffy at best. That said, I just got a notice that I had a security update. Installing it now. Is it too much to hope they already addressed this? Not likely yet. I wonder about the screen off app. I could try uninstalling that.
