    Hello All,
I see through looking through the forums the problem i have is not unique. But has anyone come up with a definitive solution to the problem?
I am trying to change an 8gb sd card to a 16gb in a htc desire z.
I have copied all the files to PC, and then put them all on the new sd card
(micro sdhc class 4), a total of 66 files, 7.4gb.

But when I put the card into the phone, it mounts ok, but all that remains is 22 files and about 2.3gb. All the media files (photos, music, books etc) have disappeared.
I tried reformatting the card on PC but it still keeps losing the data when put in the phone.
I have also tried the card in my htc legend, and it did the same thing in that too.
Maybe the new sd card is faulty?

    Thanks if you can help.

Are the files still there when you reexamine the card in the card reader on your PC, or are they being deleted? If the former, try going to Settings/Storage and unmount then remount the card. Sometimes the media scanner takes a while to pick up files and display them in the relevant app.

Another possibility is that you update the device firmware. Iirc there was a 'bug' similar to this that was fixed with an update.

    Hi There, thanks for replying.
The files & folders are deleted from the SD Card.
I have tried mount / remount of the card, and also reformatted it on PC.

I have also sent the card back for a refund, and will purchase another from a different supplier, and see how that goes.

Is there much involved with a firmware update? Some guidance would be very helpful.

    Many Thanks,......DEAN.

The symptoms you described could be due to a faulty card too, so better playing safe.

No, it's simply a matter of checking Settings/About phone/System software updates to see if an update is available Over-The-Air, although make sure you're on wifi first as it's a large download.

Thanks for the advice re: firmware.
As mentioned, I sent back the Kingston SD card and I bought a new Sandisk 16gb SD card to replace it.

the new card works fine, so problem solved.
