I looked for this on the board and didn't find it, so I hope someone can help. I put in a 32GB sd card. I formatted it (FAT 32) and simply copied the files from my original that came with the phone. I had over 1500 music files, but while they are on the 32 GB card, only 100 are showing up in the music player. I deleted everything and recopied the original card, still the same issue. Any thoughts? I would appreciate the help.

I have the same issue, but I didn't notice until you pointed it out because I've been using Mixzing, which does show all the songs. I also noticed Cubed only shows 100 songs as well. I can't figure out a way to refresh the library in either program.

Somehow or other, some of the files were not copied over to the new sd card even though I copied it directly from the original to the desktop and back to the new sd card. I guess that means that I have to go back through the card, determine which ones didn't make it and copy the missing ones from my computer. Geeze.

First thing I did when I got my 32GB card was format it with the Panasonic SD Formatter V2.0. It took over an hour to complete, but I think it will pay off in the end when I load it up with my music and install it with no issues *crosses fingers*. It is highly recommended to format a SD card clean before adding files to it or installing it to your device.

I don't know much about FAT32 but maybe there is a buffer that limits how much you can drag and drop at once? Or maybe if you are using a card adapter of some sort it can only process a certain amount of data at once?

I would also suggest maybe clearing the specific music player app cache. After you back up your necessities go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Apps -> and then select your music player from the list and select 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Data'. Maybe the app is saving info from the old configuration and needs to be refreshed?

Just a couple of quick ideas I had.

I tried clearing the data in app manger for the music program, but it did not work. Both cubed and mixzing are fine, but the stock music player still only shows 100 songs. I never really looked at that before I copied the files, so I don't know if it was always like that or if this is related to the music transfer from one card to the other.

I think that the songs are there, but for some reason, the music player isn't registering them. There is a counter on the top, and it may not be adding them correctly. I went in and deleted what was not showing in the list, but was on the card and re-added them. Weird.

where did you buy your card from? is it possible its a fake?

There's nothing wrong with the card, Astro File Manager and Cubed and MixZing all show the correct number of songs. It is only the stock player that shows 100.

I never actually checked that before I did the file copy, so I'm not sure if there is a 100 song limit in the stock music player or something happened to a database file that's all screwed up as a result of the file copy.

Since I don't use the stock music player it's not a major issue, but it is quite baffling.

Use Astro File Manager or another music program like Cubed or MixZing to verify if the songs are on the card or not. I bet they are.

This issue is limited to the stock player for me.
  11. Try reformatting the card with the phone.

I used robocopy to do a 1:1 file-level copy last night. Love it, especially since my phone accidentally unplugged from the usb cable mid-transfer. Robocopy just picked back up when I plugged it in.

In any case, I know MixZing saw my 1,200 songs after the transfer. I didn't check in stock since it is set to shuffle everything by default. I did notice, however, that my shuffle seemed to be repeating things more frequently than normal. It could be a bit of a placebo effect, however, since the shuffle is pretty random.

I'll check when I get home since I can't have my phone at work and don't get enough time during lunch to get out to the car.

As a side note, I'm running Fresh 1.0.1 if that matters any. This is also the 32GB Sandisk card from the Verizon price mixup.

Same here! Probably the same for most of the people in this thread :D

When you open the stock player, how many songs are listed under Now Playing? In fact, even if you didn't copy your songs to a new card, how many songs are listed under Now Playing?

I'm not going to reformat anything to fix an issue with the stock player I don't use, but with every other program seeing all the files I copied, it can't be an SD card or formatting problem.

Duhhhh... I figured out my issue. Open up stock, go to the list view, hit menu, and select Play All or Shuffle All. This will update the number of songs the player will choose from.

This may be the reason why some people are saying Shuffle repeats songs a lot.

I noticed that too, but prior to yesterday's "swap" I showed 1500 tunes. Now...it updated to 847 even thought I added. Just weird. I did get the "sale" sandisk. I might try reformatting with the phone rather than the computer.

Confirmed. Just figured that out myself when I got home from work. Weirdness, but hey :p

Coach, I'd check to see if your music folder on your SD card -- whatever it may be -- contains the proper count. It might be that some files got left behind in the transfer. I've had Windows mess up copies before, so I tend to rely on robocopy when I'm moving a lot of files from nested paths.

It could also be that before the swap the database was a bit out of date, and updated to reflect the new current song count?

wow, completely lost. i ordered the 32g as well but i just created some folders and thats it. what problems will i encounter by not formatting?

The sd card was preformatted it with fat 32, otherwise the evo could not access the memory card.

Unless you're having a specific problem, you do not need to do anything else.

You probably won't encounter any problems, but there is always a slight risk of possible problems when you trust the slam jam format job they probably give the cards at the factory.

I formatted through the phone, then copied my whole 8GB card to the 32 Card.

No problems at all with MP3s showing up.

Hahaha...Don't worry. I did the same ish before, also. I currently have a 16gb micro sd and have about 12gb worth of music/media, but couldn't figure out why the HTC player only showed a few of the albums that I had on the card. Then, after opening and having it display by artist...bam...all the music was on there.

I've been looking at different reviews for different music players to see which one will be best to show every mp3 I have (as compared to the HTC widget), and have a medium sized widget on one of my home pages, but haven't decided which one to use yet.

Using the playlist feature, I added all my songs to a playlist with the HTC Player and they all showed up afterward.

i use btunes and it has a refresh capability. Sometime when i add songs to my stock sd card they dont' show up. So i repeatedly refresh. Maybe 5 or 6 times in a row and eventually everything shows. It's strange.
